Hi guys,
Iron Chef contacted me this morning via email to say this awesome looking machine is for sale in Japan!
I don't peruse Jap sites a lot, but I've never seen a Unicab for sale in Japan....
This is the KR85 which makes it the 1500cc version that would have been originally fitted with troopy-style rear seats (face to face) with a total seating capacity of 6.
The KR80 is the 1300cc with two rows of seats in standard configuration.
According to Iron Chef, the auction description included the Japanese word for RUST quite a bit; strange as it's a good looking car. Maybe it's had a dodgy cosmetic resto or something.
The car was going up for auction today and this was the earliest opportunity I had to get it up, so it's probably gone. Plus, the starting bid was about $500, but it was always going to go for that. Odds are it wouldn't have given a punter much change out of $10k once you factor in landing costs.
Rare... definitely. Desirable.... maybe to people on this forum! Viable... probably not this time around.
Looks good tho - enjoy!!!

For those unsure what a Unicab is, they run a Wasp chassis, Bellett G130 or G150 engine, Bellett steering wheel and Yazaki Bellett gauges, including the fuel and temp gauges that you find in a GT rather than a sedan!
So it's essentially a Bellett Jeep as far as I'm concerned!
Cheers,
Dave
