ALL IN FUN OF COURSE CHILDREN!!!! no names mentioned.... ever.... and maybe some of us can confirm or deny.... or even ignore and laugh at the outcome if so wished! ok.... has a deal been done for a well known sedan to change hands soon...?

My ratter is being bought by Jay Leno; he will be mid-mounting an Oldsmobile Toronado V8 and running 15" Datsun steelies with flapper whitewalls.
(not really)

I thought someone was building a V6 sedan not a V8 Don't think even a Rover V8 would fit a Bellett. Anybody heard anything else?

Deals on wheels Brett thinks there is...yeassss..? (Sounding like Yoda)
V8??? I want to shoe horn a volvo 2.7 V6 into the Donkey but can't find a decent engine with 5spd to do so. I know not of any deals though.

The Melbourne crew are an incestuous lot and i am surprised we (the rest of the country) manage to every get to buy anything before it gets snapped up??
or is that a bit harsh?

Mate you just can't help yourself, can ya? Spreading goss Someone selling a beloved sedan you say? It's hard to imagine! One can only imagine that there would have to be some driving financial need to consider such a thing! I can only hope that anyone considering this has more than one, so as not to render themselves Bellettless, an intollerable state! Or perhaps they just want to share the love, and relieve another of that most hopeless condition. Yeah, thats gotta be it - It's all about self-sacrifice & consideration. Or have they found something they want the money for? But what prize could be sufficiant? Or maybe there's a rival race team for Rolie? Don't do it! Don't sell the race car!!! You'll miss it so bad! I'll let you know if I hear anything. DAVE, very happy to see the "Not really". Cheers friends.

Would have to be some pretty insane financial difficulties IMO. I've been jobless for a month and a half and have till the 25th of this month to find a new home yet the finances will not seperate me from the Donkey or the 69 WA sedan no matter what! I've sold off half my furniture and my lil' Datto goes next week, my beloved record collection will be next on the chopping block. A couple of months ago I deleted the back seat out of the Donkey to make way for a swag! Just in case. Home sweet home in the back of the tear drop.

Actually if you were putting a V8 in, you'd probably start looking at the small block Ford motor; that's what Rootes used to turn the Sunbeam Alpine into the Tiger. Not only is the block physically compact, bits like the distributor are in better locations. The blokes who commissioned the original prototype measured up a range of US V8s (including the Buick/Rover engine and selected the Ford. Rootes commissioned Carroll Shelby to do the official prototype, he had to cut into the firewall to get decent weight distribution, and that meant changing the steering to rack and pinion. Of course it might be an easier fit into a Bellel rather than Bellett - maybe someone's doing that? Vic

farmer is on the right track..... but as to which part of his post is the correct part..... well..... rest assured the race car ain't involved tho..... well in any significant way anyway! oz..... us melbourne guys get up to much much more than most will ever know! as for a V8 in one..... measured it all up years ago. the closest thing u'll get to fit is a ford windsor. 289 or 302 coz a 351 windsor is physically bigger. don't even think holden or chev..... they are simply too wide. holdens, chevs, and ford clevelands are a 90 deg V, making them wide across the heads, but the little windsor is only 60 deg..... nice and narrow to get between the shocker towers! and a rover or leyland V8..... all i'll say is HA! they are a long stroke/small bore engine, and even tho they are made of alloy and are lighter than 99% of other V8's, they are actually wider than a holden or chev..... yep, they are huge, and a bellett engine bay would need far, far more mods to make it fit than ever before. but a holden V8 will go into a wasp..... soon enuf...... trust me cheers!

Still, a happy result regarding said Wasp & you will probably get a ride sometimes. But I didn't know about the sedan proposal? Do tell. mmmm who had a new arrival today?????? Now, you know you're going to have to tell more, don't you? That was a very excitement phone call last night! Gotta love new arrivals! Cheers!

Like I said, small block Ford as used in Sunbeam Tiger in 1965. The Mk 1 had the 260 CI windsor, the Mk 2 had the 289. Of course, if you were really serious you could try for a 478 hemi. After all, if you can get one into a sprog-eyed fright..... http://www.modifiedhealeys.org/Photos/1 ... Marian.htmCheers, Vic
