See, there's a problem with setting deadlines! Hot weather has made it too hot for spraying! The primer showed up plenty of dags, so out came the stop putty, Tracy came round the corner & says "I suppose it had to happen!" "What's that?" "Chicken Pox!" Attachment:

(There has been a wave of Chicken Pox in Rye Park) Yesterday I blocked it back & this morning got out there at 7 am before the heat to put a second layer of primer on. Looks a bit better now. Got the seats back wednesday. Eddie had to pirate 2 seats to get enough springs to replace broken ones! much extra work! Price - $590 the pair. Good to sit on. Real good! Attachment:

2 days off now - off to motorfest with Gary C. & brother Gary. Much fun! Cheers, Matt.

Had a cool change last Sunday, so I got the black on. Went on O.K., a bit orange peely in places, but O.K.. Since then I've been putting her back together & have compounded & buffed where hardware goes. Comes up nice & glossy. Funny how the simplest thing can take long. Eg.- Stick the door locks in - wait, better check the ignition key fits 'em. - No. - Go to the icecream bucket of keys & try 'em all - none fit! - get the box of spare locks & try all the keys in them - none fit!! - take the keys & try 'em in the spare doors' locks - none fit!!! - Try the keys in the old cars behind the shed - One fits Remove the handles & trim & lock - install in Betty, 1 hour later... There has been much ratting for screws and clips and nuts and bits of dash and horn relays and...... But its all FUN! REALLY! Attachment:

They did a real nice job on the front seats, Matt. The guy who owned my sedan paid $400 for one to be done in Melbourne. The black on black is looking good too. Much hard work pays off in the end. enjoying the posts and the photos lots.

Yesterday was a busy day. Gary Carter followed me to Young for an exhaust fit, blue slip rego insp. & twenty questions from the R.T.A. Result - Plates! 70 km with nothing behind the extractors, it was definately Bam balaaaAAAAAAAAMM!! Return was much more mellow, and , the orig equip National 5 push button AM radio STILL WORKS. Original speaker, too! Scratchy crackly retro sound! Found 2 CC playing '60's tracks - Time warp! Seats feel nice, got that new vinyl smell. Attachment:

Still stuff to do - Cut & buff, Side strips & badges, & what's with the positive rear camber? I thought it was the odd tyres & lack of weight, but now it's back together & it's still there. Might have to play with the springs. And those wheels....Hmmmm... More tomorrow. Cheers, Matt.

Hmmm, 'tomorrow' has been a bit slow coming, but Betty is finally complete. So here are a few pics of the result. Found some J-spec mirrors in the box. Attachment:

I didn't like thet 2 inch twin end, so I took it back. I had asked for 2" from extractors to muffler, then twin 1 1/2" tailpipes. He said "No probs, you gotta be happy", and fixed it no charge. Recommend More's Exhausts, of Young. Better. Attachment:

That is so cool Matt, well done. I love those kidney bean mags and they dont look out of place on a Bellett either. The exhaust is nice and subtle too. I reckon my chances of finding a set of 14's though are not too good Cheers Rob

Well, I cant believe the last post here was a year ago! Some may have noticed in the 'Rumor Mill' thread that Betty is going to a new home. I thought she might want a raincoat, so I rubbed a bit of polish on. She will be farewelled in a couple of weeks. Had to take a pic. Attachment:

Nice way to spend an afternoon. Cheers, Matt. Note: The nett Bellett tally will not fall as a result.

well betty arrived at her new home yesterday safe and sound. to say that the new owner is very happy with the latest addition to the collection is the year's biggest understatement! Matt has done a great job on with the work he's done on betty and there's some further work planned by the new owner soon. stay tuned! cheers.

I'm glad He's happy mate, I was a bit nervous with selling her sight unseen, and started looking at the little things that could be improved. I'm glad you have a stock of bits to help if anything comes up. She should have had a decent steering wheel & hornring, and I had intended to fit some plain black carpet. But I suppose he can get in & drive, and that's probably the main thing.
Please post any improvements - you won't hurt my feelings! :lol
And thanks again for helping get me into Aunty Mary, (Oh dear, that doesn't read well! Aaaah, you know what I mean!!) Always good to broaden one's Isuzu horizons! Hope it's all good, Matt.
