Brilliant testing, and beautifull shots of Goodwood at it's best on a what looks like a cracker of a day. (seems like it hasn't stopped raining down this end of the world for months !!)

Yeh, thanks for the fashion advice Lizzie, but I think my cat-walk days are over.

I've gone for a black suit, goes with everything don't they say? Or is another colour the "new black" nowadays? Oh I don't know.

Just back on the call for advice on what to fill the rear panel with....

My recommendations would be...

1) nothing; it looks purposefully racy like any good 1960s Appendix J/production car from Back In The Day! It make it look HARDCORE.

2) A Japanese plate that suits; that would make it look like it's just landed off the boat from the Land of the Rising Sun

3) An appropriate era Aussie plate; I'm sure the boys and girls on here would have more than a few spares from wrecks etc and you can usually find a pearler amongst all the dodgy beaten-up items!

That's my 2 cents (or 3 cents, it would appear, if the going rate is 1c per item).

Dave, your thoughts are spot on, though maybe is there a English plate that may suffice, or all ideas are great, any choice will be ideal, lets not forget, pombellett's dedication is to replcate a very DIFFERENT car of the ERA, I will say what poms thoughts are will define what the very rare people that have for the passion a BELLETT worldwide is all about.

It's all happening now, we've got the final instructions and the entry list, for those of you following Rolie's progress I've scanned the entry for the race we're in, and here it is.

The way this race works is the guest/celebrity driver races Saturday and the owner (me) races it Sunday. The aggregate between the two races is then taken as the result.
As you can see it's quite a star studded line up of celebs, but no one has been assigned to Rolie yet, this is probably because I'm a newcomer to the Revival, and frankly I doubt whether any of these people know what a Bellett is, given the choice between a Lotus Cortina and an unheard of Japanese saloon they've gone for the safe option.....someone, hopefully will be pleasantly suprised on the 18th (qualifying)

Looking at the list I must confess to a few nerves creeping in, it's a hell of a line up of cars, most with bigger engines and many years of development.....but I wonder whether they've heard the story of David and Goliath?

Pom you are already a winner. You found the car and built it and they accepted it and thats a win in itself . So just enjoy your dream for most without the dedication thats all it would have been.

Pom, Your achevement in gettng to this stage is outstanding, you youself enjoy your time, as looking through the list of " Drivers of peoples ideals, I do not think any of them have had the THRILL of driving a BELLETT in racing conditions. I am sure someone may take the challange, but then again, sit back and think you have restored one of the rarest of cars in the UK. My hat goes off to you and all for sharing this wonderfull chapter in the passion we call Bellett.

NIIIICE.......display of rebuild on web. BUT, and this no critiscism......just a minor web glitch.......isn't the photo lablled "front suspension rebuild" actually the rear one ?

btw, the well known international motor racing update programme here in Oz ( called RPM ) had a whole show dedicated to the "Goodwood Speed Festival". Riverting viewing. We got to see the original track, the hill climb, all the old GP and other historics, including the past drivers back in their old machines, and lots more. Obviously they could'nt show everything as it became apparent the enourmity of the paddock and pedegree therein. Amazing !!

Thanks Lizzie, yes, getting a little more nervous now, since it's looking like the weather might play a role. Although I've raced modern cars a fair bit. I've never raced anything with a GT Orph 'Renegade' style diff in the wet, and all my instincts tell me Rolie could be a bit of a handful if it rains.

We'll see.

Anyway I've got my Saturday driver, a young chap who's made his name in A1GP and Le Mans called Robbie Kerr http://www.robbiekerr.com/

The bloke i race with Glen his theory back off a little earlier set up a give heaps. This is his secret seems to work it's fun anyway .

Well, we made it through scrutineering, on a beautiful sunny day. And Goodwood looked at its best. We're parked next to the Saab of Anders Jensen and Stig Blomqvist.

With luck he'll be one of the folk we can compete with, being one of the few guys with similar power.
Unexpected exhibit is this original Schneider Cup plane. How cool's that?

And even better than that this B17 Fortress landed on our tiny little strip!!!!! (Props still turning)
