HeyGerryBellettGT
I would like to see the photos you have , I doubt it very very much that it was of this one. I will investigate the 4 door next week as the neighbouring property owner was not home today. Now , what parts shall I save from the 2 door or should I not even bother with any of it ?

please bother parts are alway's welcome. The question is where is it located so it falls into the right hands? General area will be fine ie northern nsw? This will be a factor in what it's worth?

If its only good for parts then freight for parts is dirt cheap.

Hi VW,
As you would be aware the car is not worth a lot of money but would be an assett for bits and pieces, glass and other parts unique to GT.s, you are very evasive about where you are, but 2 of us have tilt tray tow trucks and I am retired, so it is quiet do able to retrieve it. but could still be an expensive oparation, so if we could factor in a cost to pick it up we could or would make you an offer. We would hate to see any GT lost to enviroment as you would hate see a VW kombi left to rust away.
Thanks Geoff

Forget about retrieving it as several members have stater it is a PARTS CAR only. I am not evasive at all about my location, ask the blokes I spoke to on the telephone re this vehicle. As I stated in my first post , I want to fund my vw projects , this is the reason I have decided to enquire about it on the forum. What I am going to do is take off the parts that are in good condition . You see I am not sure what parts are GT only and till now I have not had anybody tell me exactly what these parts are. So , if anybody whants anything shoot me off a PM and what you would pay . Thought I would give you all a crack at the parts. If it turns out to be too difficult the car can sit rust where it is and will be till it disappears.

Because people will say , its too far and by the time I hire a trailer , and fuel is expensive , and I will have to stay overnite at a motel. Do you want me to go on. PARTS , PARTS , PARTS , going going !!. I figured that the people that dont want to talk on the phone about it are pretty much wasting my time.

Worth keeping

All window glass
Front grill, lights, guards, rear lights, all instruments, motor, gearbox, extractors, front disk assy, rear drums and brake parts.

Both doors if not too rusty.

thats a start...

just on the its all too far and too costly. we travelled from Adelaide to Metro Victoria to pickup a basket case complete GT.

I sent 2 trucks with trailers 1200kms to collect 4 sedans its not only the big bits that matter it's going to a wreck when you want something silly. This car could help so many others. btw there is a split screen kombi about 5 kms from where i live. I will try and get a photo for you it's on private property overgrown with scrub.

Sorry for the delay in getting back on as I have only just had a chance to get back to the property where the GT is and the neighbours just this afternoon. 500 plus mm of rain here in 2 days and the creeks were over to the property.
So , heres the deal. The neighbour had 2 florians and they both went to the scrappies 4 weeks ago, Aparently he tried to gas himself in one as he is terminally ill and the wife said they have to go. Fair enough. The bad news is that he took the motor out of the GT at the neighbours property and sold it years ago. He has however still got the gearbox from the GT and also 3 other bellet boxes in great condition. He also has 3 going ( 1 he reconditioned some years ago) isuzu bellet motors . Various other bits and pieces also. He is an old mechanic.
There is a bit there including the GT.
Ok , I have thought about offloading the lot as a package deal. I will have to remove the GT via flatbead truck (has no front end) and get it back to my driveway and get all the engines and bits inside it for freight.
$650 for the lot and it belongs to you. Bear in mind I am in GORDONVALE , 20 kms south of Cairns.
If no package deal on the lot I will then seperate the bits but I think I owe it to the GT to try and give it a chance at another life. Cheers , Ian
please PM me if you are interested.
