was an awesome day out, i love the fact we have a few twin cars here in adelaide! big congrats to dave who managed to get 5 cars to the event! i only just managed one car! though that there were a few more older cars there this year which was good (well to me it was!) was good to hear some of the comments of people as they wandered past to. My favourite part of the day was when i was asked when dave parked his florian there! had to explain that there are now 2 of them terrorising Adelaide roads!

Thanks for the photos Dave - I really appreciate you taking the time to post them, seeing that I cannot attend (maybe one year).
Good to know you have some trustworthy mates to help you get all your pride and joys to this kind of event.
PS: I don't think your roof rack on the RAT is "Wind Tunnel Approved" - it may have a slight drag.
Cheers Neil

It was a great day
Daves new car was awsome One question I forgot to ask on the day -- looking at the engine bay the inner shock towers had an indent on the firewall end on both sides presumably for the power brakes and brake cylinders clearance, it this a feature of the later cars or one more piece to the W puzzle?

I think all the later cars had those indents. It's not a GTR thing. Not for booster though, just the master cylinder.
By the way, I have seen some early Datsun that has a very similar twin master cylinder to the Belletts.

The GTR has the power brake unit on the passenger side firewall about where the accelorater linkage is, and as Glen said late model cars as well as GT have that indentaion for twin cylinder master cylinder.

I'd just like to add my congrats to Dave to get 5 (Freaking FIVE) cars organised, cleaned and to the event. They all looked great in a row and the contrast of models, spec level and colour was great. Plenty of people (even the owner of that two door Galant!) commented that they used to own a Bellett and it was good to see them out and about Thanks again to everyone that came along and hopefully we'll see that many cars at the next Adelaide cruise! Cheers, R.

Yeah Dude, Just got on B"net after a big couple of days, and the photos and comments confirm how AWESOME all Japan day was. Sometimes the stars just alighn and the skys stays closed. I left the park pinching myself the fact Dave got half the Isuzu squadron there, as well as your own mamouthian effort, including saving my Beastie's gear box in the process, Also got a ripper set of photos, 64 in all, but our pc has ground to a holt. If only it was as reliable as the GT. Both the R and GT are similar, but so different together, lots of debate pa-man's auto and the deluxes look hell racey. The Ginsu Province Taxi looks like it's taking the family out for a day at the beach. Two Frrrooooliannn's doh !! And a wierd vegie movin' ute to boot, Great to meet everyone there, learn some Japanese, see some other crazy jap steel. Huge effort all !! I'll get some pics up soon. B

A big thanks to Dave for letting me drive one of his cars. Okay not the one I would have preferred but I guess he should be allowed to drive it himself Some of the more entertaining moments were : 1. The people looking in horror at the way the rack was attached to the Ratter, not knowing it wasn't driven to the event with it on. 2. MrFibbles and Dave trying to figure out who's car was who's without looking at the number plates. 3. The people looking at the engine bay trying to figure out how an Isuzu runs with that firing order (some of you will know what I mean ) Great day and the rain held off until we got home a bonus. Cheers Rob

Wow Dave - your reveal on the "W" was so under the radar I even missed it when I looked at the photos yesterday......
I have since re-read the post.
So - Congratulations on the purchase and you must be so happy with getting your hands on one!!
Well done mate.

all bellett's, sedan and GT, from late 68 when the strip tail lights came out had the indented shock towers. came about when isuzu started fitting twin circuit master cylinders to them and they needed more clearance.

My (Dave's ) GT is a "68.5" and does not have the indents.
Exactly when did it happen?
There was also a flattening of the top of the left tower too which i assume was for the SOHC engine carb clearance change made at some time.

ol yella is a strip tail light model with the xtra support under the dash but it also has no indentation for the master cyl. The red sedan of dads does. It must be later strip tails only .

Oregato everyone !! I've been dying to put up some favorite pics of All Jap Day here in Adelaide. Finally doing it well after the event, but couldn't resist showing off the amazing squadron which came out to play that Sunday in February.
Enjoy,
B.
