Do you mean 2 door sedan, or a GT ?
As far as i know, there are no 2 door sedans in Australia.

there's no 2 door sedans in Aus so i'd assume Tim is after a GT.
Tim just keep your ear to the ground coz they do pop up but understand they were a rare car when new so are very rare now. most change hands between friends these days so they don't get advertised thru the normal channels either. oh and btw... they command a pretty penny these days so bring a healthy cheque book! don't want to scare u off by any means but just want to fill u in on the Bellett GT world of 2012. cheers.

It's interesting though.
The number of GT's in Aus. is very limited as we know.
The number not yet 'discovered' is unknown, but bound to be pretty small number.
The number that still exist in Aust. is probably < 100 or so I would guess. Maybe more like < 50? Some of these will need a lot of work to get back on the road.
The number of sellers at any time tends to be very low. (although given a big enough offer, some may be tempted !)
The number of buyers would tend to be limited to those in the SA, Vic or NSW Clubs, plus a few newcomers etc.

In this day and age $16000 would be a fair buy, and if rust free a few extra $ to put it on the road. A rough one rebuilt will cost more to bring it to a good sample. 2 have been sold around this figure in qld in the last few years 1 complete and 1 a little less that needed completion.

Thanks guys for your input. I am in no rush to buy one and also there is not many for sale I will just have to wait and see. I did know of a wasp sitting in a paddock so I may have to chase that up now as I did not realize how rare they are. Thanks again guys and well done on a great site lots of great info on here

agreed with all comments so far, especially Glenn's about number of cars and gricey's and gt orphanage's about pricing. also with gt orphan about the Wasp. they were and will always be much rarer than any Bellett, GT included, simply due to original number imported and how many were kept due to desirability.

As great as the wasps are . Don't forget how hard parts are to find. A lot of little things are different on these utes compared to sedans and gts. And you have to have parts manufactured and that can become expensive. Or find a great partner that does it for you.

very true lizzy. i reckon a Wasp is easier to resto than a Bellett in some areas, like suspension and running gear as alot of LUV/Rodeo stuff is the same, but in areas of Wasp-only parts.... headache central! as we know tho, a Bellett can just be an all round headache as NOTHING else fits anywhere!

I think you would be hard pressed to buy a car, Gt, sedan or wasp from anyone in the forum. If I am speaking out of turn please accept my apology. If you are after a complete vehicle I think importing would be your best option. Most people find them and spend alot of hours and love restoring these cars for them to stay in their family. Not to be sold. Lizzie.

I think that's right also. I have also been looking for a GT and mainly been searching the Japanese sites. From what I can tell, you will pay about $15k + for anything that looks half decent anyway, and keep in mind the difficulty in buying a car from a few pictures only. Probably closer to $20k. I saw a very nice white GT, new paint etc that was in that price range. If $15k frightens you, then I am afraid tha'ts about the entry level it seems now, to buy a GT. If you want some thing even 'nicer' than the one pcitured above, be prepared to pay a lot more. These cars are hard to find in Japan also, remember. If you want a 'builder' then have a look at this one, also out of Japan. Lots of rust visible and probably much more not visible ! This one is about $10k landed and unless you can do the work yourself, or have a very good painter and panel beater mate, will cost LOT's to tidy up the body. Who knows about the motor condition also in these cars. I hate to talk up the value of these cars but they seem to have taken off since i had my last GT. glenn

I found a really sweet 67 GT. RED, new paint and a lot of work done on it. VERY nice. Appeared to have all new grille parts in it also.
asking for "offers' OVER equivalent of $22,000 landed here.
Glenn
