Glenn the myth that g---w parts are not around Most parts are however, as we all know with bellett bits you have to look, find and adapt The g---w is in the same basket if you ring a parts suplier and rattle off that you want a part for either you will get the same reply awaaaht a bellett awaaaht The bottom end bearings are the same as the g---z,rings are the same also ie 1600,1800,2000 i assume as we did a g180 and used 180z rings not knowing much about the gemini engine i do not know if there displacement change is bore or stroke or both. vrs kit is available from coventry auto parts/bursons We had not replaced cam bearings as they were ok but a head shop with the right id i am sure they could tunnel bore to suit if they could not be found. A forum has the recipe to convert mitsubishi timing chain and tesioner to suit. Dizzy parts throw the old one away and use a g---z dizzy cut it to the right length shim the w gear drive to suit then the guts from a rb gemini will give you the option of electronic ign or fit the reluctor and it will talk to delco pulsar/camira efi. We reused the sump gasket with ultra grey as this was not so easy to find. It would be nice to go to a parts supplier and say can i have a rebuild kit for a ...... but then we would all be driving a boring holden or ford I rebuilt a chev 383 stroker for our ski boat a few years back sat on the phone for 15 minutes told the guys what i wanted gave them a credit card number and 2 days later at my feet. sweet but just toooo easy no challange Waldo do you have a part number for the rebuilt kit i might put 2 in storage for a rainy day as we have had a few lately.

Hi, OK on the parts. I have had 2 DOHC's and had one partially rebuilt so know that some parts you can find, others not so easy. There was a place in QLD some years ago that was making gasket kits for the DOHC's when they were a popular fit into Gemini's. With my GT 1600 OHV, it was rebuilt using Gemini rods and pistons etc.
I think there is info here somewhere on the differences in the gemini type SOHC engines, bore strokes etc which might be helpfull. But the most common DOHC here seems to be the 1800cc from what I can tell. I got a timing chain from a place here called "The Chain Gang". Just had it made to length.
Sometimes it's the little things that may need replacement. If one has to pay somebody to do a re-build though, having all the right parts to hand is a necessity.

Looks good! So many Type-Rs and replica Type-Rs. I now count four... if you include RobSA's Ratter Type R sedan!!! Looking good! Cheers, Dave

Wow Waldo
What an impressive amount of work. It would be great to see it in real life. I think you've almost converted me to an admirer of the 2 door variety!!

Yeah it was that car! The only good thing about buying it was the shell had no rust but out of everything that came with it, i used only the the shell because everything else was butchered or hacked up in some terrible way, so i had to find a complete bellett in japan and strip it of everything! And if anyone asks its not staying turbo! With the turbo it made about 10more hp than a stock twin cam and had turbo lag! And the motor didnt have a nice throaty sound to it! Pretty much everything has been scrapped but the shell.
