Every little step there was a modification to be done.. from the Throttle Body swap to the Waste Spark ignition, it only just fit in, no intercooler though I have routed the pipes down so i could mount one in front of the car at some point but i think it would ruin the look.

I have an oil cooler mounted in front of the radiator where the three air holes are, it would still be a bit messy with the pipe work for an intercooler. Amzing how time flys one miniute your going to the Nationals the next Married with a couple of mortgages.. I googled Bellet and came up with this site.. very cool, I remember sending a picture to a bloke in the Netherlands when i frist started putting the engine in.. but i think its gone now. a mate got me enthused again when he bought an RX2 a few weeks back in bits, i read that someone thought the car was photoshop myth so i joined up.. its great to see there is so much intrest in the cars out there.

there are quite a few bellett owners here in Adelaide, and everyone seems appreciative to see them on the roads wether they are restored, modified or just plain ratty. Is there alot left to do on yours before its on the road?

I need to finish the exhaust system, interior and re-do the bonet. but thats about all, fun to drive.. I have run it up and down the street a few times stright out exhaust at the moment so you here the turbo spool up and then when you hit the blowoff valve.. it does spin the wheels nicley, i put a ceramic paddle cluth from a GTR skyline in it.. so that holds up all ok, its just got a standard diff so i dont really tromp-it to much. other than those few things its all there rearing to go.. just need the $$$ to finish it off, you learn as you get older that there is so much more than cars.. House and a wife.. well lets just leave it there.

very nice build there Chris.

and welcome to the forum.
you appear to be getting on real well with your build.
here is a link to another ex SA car quite modified as well
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1766

we here in SA do a day run about every 4 months. usually meet somewhere central about 1030am and cruise for an hour or so before stopping for lunch and then another hour or so drive before splitting up and heading our seperate ways home.
you are most welcome to join our next cruise. dont need a running Bellett to come along. May be able to con a passenger ride in a car for the day as well. plenty of photos of your build and the more details the better for us guys as we love to follow the experience of our fellow Bellett r's.

and your right about the time and money issue. i have to cull my collection down to 4 and thats not much fun. but most of my work is stock standard rebuild and repair so cost is minimum.

cheers

OZ

Hi Glenn and OZ,

The Brakes are XF Falcon 11" vented Discs and Mazda RX7 Series 4 (4 Spot) Calipers. all mounted on the standard hub, custom mounting for the calipers and the caliper had to be modified slightly to fit the HUB section of the disc they fill up the 15" wheels.
The Master Cylinder is a Mitsubishi Dual Stage with no booster so the brake leaver is modified to give me the same brake / pedal ratio as a booster, this is also mounted on a custom machined mount and adjustable push rod.
anything you see here isnt standard, The engine even has adjustable cam timing wheels.

I used the XF Discs as they gave me the right offset but i could pickup a set from the wreckers and have them machined down to suit the RX7 calipers

I was very lucky to know a very good machisist during the build, the work he did was first class.

I'll take a pic of it and post it.

Specs for the discs as you see the min thickness for the XF Disc is just right for the RX7 and being so big they have heeps of metal on them.

XF Discs
Vent-Vented
Diameter-287
Height-75
Thickness-24
Min Thickness-22.2
Centre Hole Dia-HUB TYPE
No of Bolt Holes-5

RX7 Series 4 Discs
Vent-Vented
Diameter-276
Height-65
Thickness-22
Min Thickness-20
Centre Hole Dia-77
Bolt Holes-5

Hi,
What Nationals will be here in Adelaide?
Is there a date set yet?
Location?

The all Japan Day looks good, I think it was at Glenelg.

The Motor is out of a JT AWD Gemini, its the same as the Lotus Elan S2, Isuzu Built it to for the Elan but ended up putting it into the AWD Gemini, I had one of those for a few years but sold when i bought the Hilux, best thing ive ever bought.

I need to pickup a new battery to get it out of the garage, that's in the boot now, running a Commodore VT Battery, a couple of fuel pumps and a small surge tank.

"Merimbula Nationals" sorry wont be able to make that.. but sounds cool.

Ill Take a couple of pictures of some of the more interesting things on the car and post them.

Cheers

Chris

Chris i ran a in line vl commodore high pressure pump without a serge tank and never had a fuel issue it was fitted at the tank and had no problems. The bellett tank will gravity feed it. It would be plenty for this engine as the same pump i run on a v6 supercharged pajero that ran out of hp on the dyno due to mitsubishi pump was maxed out.
