20 bits fitted :D 1980 bits to go  minus the bits that are left over :? This is another rebuild tip if you wreck a car for parts you can justify the left overs  .

A little progress on ol yella it's a slow job but if it's right when it goes in all should be good :? There is a wasp nest are in every hole brake pipes, fuel pipes even the plugs in the wiring so all the pipes have been cleaned inside and out. The loom has been opened up and repaires have been made where needed and the external regulator wires removed and rewired for a internal reg. The headlights have been rewired with higher amperage wire and relayed with aircraft landing lights fitted. With most of the wiring now complete i can move on to the rear end i was waiting for some diff seals that are now here the uni's have been replaced and front and rear wheel bearings replaced and today i got the last of the bits for a full brake rebuild. The front cross member i had powder coated for it last year would not fit it was about 1/8 of a hole out on the last two bolts but the original one fits fine so its away till next week, another thing i found out was the peddistill that the rear lower swing arms are different bolt spacing than sedan :?: i had these powdercoated the same colour as the car and they don't fit :?: at first i thought it may have been later model but the pr90 set up is the same.
The twin cam was stripped and new rings bearings in the bottom end and the head should be back tuesday with a new timming chains so i hope to have the engine ready and waiting by the end of next week, I picked up a 5 speed geabox a few weeks back.
This rebuild was to be of a lower budget and Liz keeps trying to remind me :? most time we cross paths but i keep telling her it can't be bodgy it has to be to a standard otherwise we will have to do it again later :P and i promise it is my last car project until the next one ;) ;) that's after the completion of her other wasp which is next. A few short cut's have been made some i do like :D . I have been getting some bits powder coated insted of rechromed i.e the mirror bases and the park light bases with the ends being rechromed isabell had 1 of ol yellas and patches was not all that good either so a set was made from the bits left. I wil put up some picks. I do have a few things like outr grill and bumpers being chromed :D (i thought this might be a good way to tell Liz  )
After 18 years of cluttering the shed i thought it may never come back to life.

magnificent job so far. Love that yellow. One of the few Belletts i have seen where the front pan fits up properly to the guards.

what alternator are you using ? any info on that and the conversion to one wire Alt ?

strange about the mismatch holes. Mr Isuzu seems to change some weird things. Is there are difference in tack between GT and sedan which might account for it ? although the axles would be diffrent also. The GT-R has a wider track so may be different again in that area ?

I don't know why they would have changed it i never crossed this before must have been lucky i guess as i send stuff to the powder coaters all the time in bulk out of any car it's cheaper to send lot's and it's ready when the car is painted.
The alternator is a bosch and the 3 wires that go to the ex reg are out and the wite wire red trace goes to the alternator it needs to be made longer. Another wire needs to back into the cabin to run the charge light that needs to be a bulb not led to actvate the alternator.

OK, sounds good. I have a spare original alternator here which is one of the few parts i have left. I often look at the newer smaller ones in wreckers with the idea of updating a Bellett (one day :D )

As luck would have it those two little belletts are running third in the nsw hill climb championship both running in sport sedans the blue 1 in it's class and the white one is 3rd ladies outright and may move two second pending a protest that i might add has nothing to do with us. We ran mountain straight at bathurst a few weeks ago and lizzie and i came last poor ol bellett's just did not have long enough legs. but we had a ball. There was to be 3 belletts running but the baboon did not want to play so Glenn ran the mini. (it's called the baboon because it has a red a$$ where the blackout on a gtr would be  )

A very thorough resto so far! Love those easy bend liquorice brake and
fuel lines. Real bumblebee theme with the black powder coated pieces.
Cheers, Lewis :P

A bit further down the track with the ol girl  I have been experimenting a few things, 1 was i saw these rubbers at the rubbershop in brissie and decided to try them i believe the are from a valiant they come out on a angle so i felt they would need a little mod but they went in and sat perfect. photo's below. I could supply there details if it's not classed as spam :?: 0732051914 I will edit if needed.
I have used kyb shocks they fit in and no mods needed they can be purchesed from bursons. part no 343011.
Also i have run out of bellett rear springs for the front and i have a new set from a fiat 124 they are fitted but the car has not hit the ground yet :P still flying high. They sit 20mm lower than standard but are 2 mill thicker so i am hoping that ride hight will be good, commodore saddles fit perfect and are avilable in a couple of sizes so ride height can be set to suit :). It's booked in for a hood linning and carpet on monday so new seats are dummy fitted retractable seat belts are almost done :?: i will complete tonight. The twin cam got a head rebuild, new timming chains, rings and bearings and is ready to be fitted as early as tomorow after the rear brakes and rear seat belts fitted. The spare parts bin is getting low now and a few desperate measures as bad as disecting 2 guard indicators to make 1 good 1  and a handbrake cable is next .
