When I collected Doris from Tamworth, her cable became noisy & the needle jumpy, so I stopped at Georges and used a few drops of his machine oil. Fixed & still good. I'm doing a bit of work on Roman Red ( should have a name - what about Julius? I did pick him up last July....... ) and there's no speedo cable. So I go the parts bin & find 3, but one has an end twisted off. So I guess it can happen, if it doesn't get that few drops of oil every 20 years or so..... Cheers, Matt.

Gees Matt, I wouldn't even contemplate calling it JULIA, it would end up full of carbon, and cost you heaps of money.

I just bought a new Speedo cable for my Sport, from the Phil's Rotaries shop up in QLD? (via ebay) I was hoping it would be ok for the sport and it arrived today, looks identical to the one in my car. It even came with the rubber grommet, although not the type for the later cars where the speedo cable enters via the flat section of the engine bay. They were on 'special' for a new lower price including postage.... if anybody is interested. Not put it in the car yet though but would assume all good.. edit 170216: possibly made by this company... http://www.imperialcable.co.th/glenn
