quick question how does the centre part of the twin headlight grille mount? it looks like the four holes on the round end pieces look like they are supposed to bolt to something as in the headlight buckets..i seem to be missing something anybody out there know or have a pic.

regards

Hi Gricey,
The one I got off you when I was down, is the wrong one, The one he needs has two raised stips on the inside to take the screws for the surrounds.
They are for the real late model, 69 on,strip tailight model, I think will be pretty hard to find.
Cheers Geoff

late cars had 2 tabs on the healdight backings from memory to take the grille. Som eother small differences too from memory. You can make them up and spot weld to the backing i think. I think i did this some time ago. I have a few backings on the shed wall, will have a look tonight also if you cant' find any.

i dont really want to weld anything to the headlight mounts as they have just been freshly powdercoated....would love to not have to redo them.

You could make a bracket with a nut welded to it then bolt or rivet it to the backing. I have one here from a 69.
The bracket is "u" shaped with the sides bent outwards to go over that cut out in the backing plate. Picture soon. If you need it.

Glenn

Waldo the other solution then is around a couple of inches in from the surrounds is a slot on the lower part of the front panel and a screw hole on the panel that holds the hinges. A sedan grill uses these mounts and i drilled out the rivets and placed them in the car refitted the grill and the outer headlight rings will hold the grill. I did this as a short term solution and it worked fine so i will leave it. I will send a pick.
