Guys, I'm getting a new parcel shelf put in the GT on Thursday, as I'm fitting a child seat restraint. I'd like the trimmers to get it as close to original as possible, does anyone have a decent picture of an original one? I know there had vertical ribs, the same as the rear seats, but were they stitched or vinyl welded?

If I can't find out, or the trimmers can't do it (they can't do welding), I'll just get a straight black vinyl shelf put in and do an original style shelf later...would just prefer not to double handle.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Duane

it has welded separations.

a close stitched version might look ok anyway

I had new door trims made for the old white GT and they were stitched. Nobody ever noticed ?

Thanks for the help guys, Kerry sent some great photos.

I guess, conversely, if anyone has a spare in reasonable condition (it will have to have a hole poked in it) I'd be keen to purchase one.

Thanks again.

Duane

Duanne,
Glenn is right they are welded line/seams. If the original covering os quite good it may work if you do as I have done in my GT.
Replaced the board with thin MDF, I have cut holes for 2 speakers, then using 2 original speaker covers, re applied the original vinyl and you can hardly tell the difference unless you look closely.
I doubt you will find the origianl type vinyl anywhere.
Dave M.
PS great you are trying to keep it as close as possible to the original, me too!

Yes, trying my hardest :)

Also, I have after market speakers fitted to mine, so (mission impossible?) if anyone has any spare speaker covers...

Mate, if you're poking more holes in it, just either get a new one made or use the existing one with speaker holes as well...

I'm in the same boat on the GTR. It's booked in at Wilshire's next Thursday week to have rear lap-sash belts and the child restraint fitted. The front belts will just be supplied; I can save my $60 or whatever and put them in myself.

Looking forward to getting some cruising in with the boy before it gets too hot!

Cheers,

Dave

You're kidding...I just rescheduled today to fit in with my wife's calendar, now I'm booked into Wiltshires Thursday 20th too...someone get a camera! Hopefully they don't fit the bits to the wrong Bellett :)

I'll be happy with whatever they can do, but now would be the perfect time to get it looking factory...after all, all I'm doing is adding a buckle to the parcel shelf. If I had an original shelf already, I wouldn't bat a eyelid at doing it.

Are you getting Inertia Reels Dave? I had them made for the Florian and it's like a modern car, very convenient! $129 ea. Horizontal or vertical reel.

Must post a pic in the 'My Isuzu' section.
Cheers, Matt.
