I'm in also.If it comes to crunch and $5 not enuf. OK with me if it has to be raised. I think it's a good idea. Having spent a lot of travel with friends,it was nothing to put up $100 before start. This was for fuel and tucker. When it got down low. Quick calculations for time and distance and topped it up.
Dave.

Hi Greg, and all, just checking the rruuuufff itinery - Quote: wednesday 17th rye park approx 200km thursday 18th merimbula approx 364km Seems you're keen to get amongst it. I was thinking you would be here on the Thursday, and we'd be doing the last leg on Friday. The South Aussies are thinking to land here on the Thursday, and to join in the trip. Tracy can only get the Friday off work, so that restricts us a bit. Are you booked at Merimbula for Thursday night? If not, It would be great to have you here 2 nights. We have a couple of spare beds, and some air beds, and plenty of tent space for the campers. For more luxo/privacy type accom, the good pub in Boorowa is $60 per double. Another option is hire of the town hall for $150. We could rustle up some beds, put them in the supper room with the air-con and sleep all-in dorm style. Theres a kitchen so we can cook you brekkie, (chooks are laying well) toilets but no showers, so they would happen here. Just a thought, a cheap option. Looking like an epic trip, wish I was doing the whole thing. Cheers, Matt.

farmer for wednesday night i am happy to use the pub. I will leave it to the others to decide where they want to bunk. I was planning friday to clean up We might have to vote on the second night as the thought of a huge cruise through the mountains seem to be attractive.

We think we'll need to be in Merimbula by Thursday, to clean up the cars ( long trip, lots of grott), wash clothes etc. The pub sounds great for Wednesday night. Farmer could you please book a room for us as well for Wed night (that's for 2 people, Alan & Trish Kyte).Any probs let us know. Happy to have the BBQ at your place.

We are right for the pub also, and would also like to be there to clean up on Friday ready for the week end. Matt, are you going to organise the pub or do you want us to make our own booking? The other question I have is if there would be snow on the roads. Maybe dumb question, but is the snowy mountains. Cheers Geoff

I'm for the pub too on the Wed. nite. Haveto check my emails at work to see when I've booked at Merimbula. I think Friday nite to Monday nite. Would like to have a day to clean up. From Caboolture to Merimbula approx. 1900km. Add another 600 for me. Poor cars been bashed, undercarriage sand blasted and hung up and spun round on a spit for last 3 years and I'm going to give it a celebratory drive of 5000km within 2 weeks. Don't worry. Will nurse it all the way. Davo. If you have a change in plans and want to do the road trip, I've got a spare seat. I'm on my own.
Dave.

No worries, I completely understand wanting a rest day after such a trip. So far I count 3 doubles (Greg & Liz, Geoff & Christine, Alan & Trish) and a single for Dave cq for Wednesday night. I'll book 'em.Any other takers, please let me know. Just another idea for an option, anyone can wash clothes & detail cars here if you wish, there's plenty of water! Sorry that we can't leave until Friday, it looks as though there may be two waves of Belletts through the mountains. Geoff, the highway follows through comparatively lower country and is usually clear for much of the year, particularly this late. It's the road Gary & Monn went over to Adelaide in 2009. Though of course, a big cold can blow up at any time, but it's uncommon this late. Dave M is driving his GT down, but is doing the run from Mudgee on Friday. If he leaves by about 5.30 he may catch up with us! Cheers, Matt.

My Merimbula campsite booking is for thursday to monday. While everyone else cleans their cars I'll go fishing. I'm just hopeing to hit a myriad of bugs on the way down as the rain we had last weekend washed off nearly all of Donkey's crud I don't care where I stay on the wednesday night, as long as I can share some laughs with my Bellett family - I'm all good.

Friends, I've pencilled in the Wednesday night bookings anyway, in case it gets busy. The publican is easy going (our daughters do Gym class together) and I can just confirm or cancel next week. At this stage he still has 6 rooms. $60/double & $40/single.
I'm totally flexible as I'm only working Tuesday of that week (unlike Tracy!). You can land at the pub, dump your things, then come out home (20km further) for a Barbie if you're early enough, or land, sleep & come out for brekkie if you are later, whatever works. Freebie of course, thats the least I can do. Barbie can be fired anytime, plenty of meat in the freezer & eggs in the chooks. (And veggie options)
Stickman, I know all about lean budgets, so please stay with us. Theres a bed with your name on it (or a couch at least!)
Cheers, Matt.
