I cut open the original muffler and rewelded the baffles etc inside it. This extened the life briefly only ! So, I had two 'copies' of the GT mufflers (under seats style) made in Stainless steel back in about 1993/4 for my Grey (Dave's) GT. The other resides under Barry Magors GT. Not a cheap exercise but long lasting....... glenn

Hmmm...doesn't sound like a job for Profix. Need to look into it further, but I could modify a late model muffler to suit an early model GT, yeah? Or are the mufflers totally different in construction?

the under floor GT muffler is very short and i could not find anything suitable to fit, espeically with two outlets. Hence getting s/s made in a close copy of the original. They used the old one as pattern. It is however more oval (side on) than the original rectangular shape.

The best exchange rate in years now means thousands to be potentially saved on imported cars The Australia dollar exchange rate to the yen has recently broken above the 90 mark and is currently at a 4 year high, so now is a great time to import a vehicle from Japan. Compared with the exchange rate of just a few months ago this equates to a saving of around $1,000 off a typically priced import, and for more expensive vehicles over $20,000 the saving is even greater still. The reason for the excellent exchange rate is the continuing epic strength of the Australian dollar, however the Japanese government is now also taking action to weaken the equally strong Japanese yen. They have started artificially weakening the yen to improve their export market for new goods, and that of course plays perfectly into the hands of anyone looking to import a vehicle! Now is an excellent time to buy, not only is the exchange rate favourable but the weak Japanese economy means less domestic competition on car prices, so for anyone considering importing now is a great time to do so.
Regards, Ben J-Spec Imports
too late for me now !!
