What can i say the bar gets raised every year this is a good thing as the cars are getting the attention they deserve. I was suprised to find that after winning the peoples choice to find only 8 votes were counted in favour for ol yella to win peoples choice with over 60 people people voting the quality of cars presented is in general a very high standard. It was great to see a few other new cars on the scene with kjb and his restored gt as well as other cars i have not seen before. Russell keeps asking where his car let him down as he intends to lift the bar with isabel and a big congrats to Lewis for presenting the gt that set the mark and the level of car that we can aim for as i know this car will be in line for some upgrades. Lewis and i have been a little competative in qld in the past at show and shines it's a fun thing that works between us the maroon gt has made him lift his game in the past i thought it would be nice to tickle him up with the little ruff car made from left overs it looks like i need to work a little harder over the next year. This is all meant in good fun Lewis used my spare parts to get home. And healthy/friendly competition keeps the cars in good condition. congrats also to the other classes for there great examples

Thanks for your comments guys. As I said at the weekend, I am fortunate to be able to concentrate my resto efforts on one car compared to Greg who has had to spread his work (with some of Liz's help ) over a few cars at a time.... and then to turn out the masterpiece of Old 'Yella is such a big effort. Very cool car As Brett and Alan said at the weekend it is having all the parts present on the car and presenting it clean on the day that goes a long way to winning. Maybe the 3 P's principle... Parts, Preparation and Presentation! Rod, it has only been the last 18months in which I have spent big money on my GT since I completely restored it in 1992. I have spent a lot of time on it doing what I can to keep the costs down. So the trick is Not to do little parts of the restoration each year but try to do as much as needed within say 1 year to end up with a big result. Congratuations to the other class winners and all the other attendees for making a big effort in getting there to make the weekend such a fantastic event. My Dad, aged 79 really enjoyed himself! I am so chuffed and appreciative of the trophy I received and the creative efforts behind it. Thanks Gary, Luke, Micheal and Rachel and whoever gave up those rare sedan hubcaps:D PS. Geoff, the owner at Coomera Smash Repairs knows of Greg and Luke Smith when I showed him the Trophy on Friday. Cheers, Lewis

rod wrote: what is a man to do to win best car spend $ lots of dollars get get the big one actually.... no. as lewis said, it's presentation that counts, not how much money is spent. trust me, gricey's Florian is a VERY nice car, and was basically built with spare change. it's just that it's been well done, and is well presented. steve's sedan has had a few dollars spent on it, sure, but definitely not thousands, while ocka's sedan had ALOT of work done in the last 12 months without much money too, and both looked fantastic. refer to my post about the judging guideline and criteria, and you'll see the phrase "clean, clean and clean" is used alot, and that's simply because that's what counts.... and cleaning doesn't cost money.

As you see no chrome in the engine bay. I will admit that there is powder coating in there but $200 goes a long way if you go 1 colour and drop it in 1 go. Just effort btw the car did a 2000km road trip to get to the show n shine it has a few scares to prove it. OL YELLA IS NO SHOW CAR. it has a ugly history and was a parts car for three other projects all left over parts made this car. At times i was desperate for parts digging deep Allen an Trish witness this while there car was being repaired here.

For me it's not about throphys . It's about the fun of be ing involved with the group. Clubs can be destroyed by people who are only interested in having the best car . Mine is better than yours syndrome. Besides I could not justify spending huge money . Must be a cheapskate . Gricey
