Hells yeah, I'll be at that one! The wife will probably be in attendance to ensure I don't get my wallet out at any stage (almost bought a backup Honda Z360 recently). Would be great to see a few more old Colts and Princes for 2013 too.

Howdy Bellett'n Brothers,

Sorry, I haven't been on B'net much, so I missed this thread (amongst other important news). Thanks for pointing out the date Flibbs.

And ditto, HELL YEAH, gotta be there. Although it falls on a rostered day off, but it can be changed before then.

The turnout of historic Isuzus was epic last year. Can we duplicate that again??

B.

I'm going to have to get the Wasp out, given that Josh plans to Wasp it up; two Wasps in the one place will be the most I've seen since they got 4 together at the Bellett Nationals a few years back!

I'll probably take the GTR as well, assuming I can score another driver. The Florian needs some love in the alternator department, while the Ratter... well it works fine (thanks to Gav's supreme work on the brakes while he was over), but the GTR is the one people like to see!

Can't wait! I was speaking to Iron Chef at a function a while back and he'd actually booked AJD for 03/03/13... which is the Sunday of the Clipsal 500! I've already had to bail on the Saturday as it clashes with the Soundwave festival... it would have been a bit much to bail on both days!

I don't know why but every time I post in Bellett.net, everything I type has exclamation marks at the end. (!)

Ah, Fantastic we have a date... I'll try and get the Bellett ready to rumble. I have been seeing so many Bellett's lately, even yelled at one bloke say it he was driving a really cool car, I dont think he took it that way through.

What to do!!!!
Bonnet needs re-doing
Rear Tail lights
Door Trims.

Might not get all done but I'am going to try to get something done for the show... just having the car there might get me going again.

Hope the SA Bellett Clan are going strong and will be there in force.

Cheers

Chris

Paid up, I'm in! Hope I won't be alone...first show I've ever entered after nearly 30 years of classic car ownership, owing to frequent breakdowns! Let's hope the little guy hangs in there for a nother 6-7 weeks :)

Hey so in order to get the Belletts parked together we probably should meet up beforehand.

I know we've always hit this pretty early...and this year is not exception!

I think cars can roll in from 8:00am. Are we keen to meet up at 7:30???? At the McDonalds again in Morphettville?

Unlike previous years, Ross and I aren't thrashing around to get trade-plated cars to the show (sharing one trade plate) so that is good.

The event is at capacity 370 cars, although only 3.6% of entrants have a 1960s car... :(

So see you there!!! (at McDonalds if you want to meet up beforehand)

The first photo was taken by Ross's GoPro camera affixed to this 4-rotor helicopter that is designed to carry a GoPro! The damned thing even was GPS controlled, so it fought against the wind to stay in the same place! Unfortunately there was gunk on the lens, but still; how awesome!

The Bellett showing was a bit disappointing; everyone pulled out for various reasons; illness or broken cars (or both in Josh's case; was looking forward to seeing the Wasps together!). It must have been jinxed as my GTR broke down the night before (fuel pump again...)... so I only had one car of the two entered.

Kudos to Ross who brought his 1969 Deluxe out for the first time in a while and Bruno who is ALWAYS keen to bring his car out; rain, hail or shine. I think even dismemberment would not stop him!

We met a dude called Tom who has a really neat little Bluebird. He bought it as-is from the previous owner after seeing it on the side of the road and not knowing what it was! He loves his Bluebird now and has become a real B410-411 expert! His car was very nice.

Oh wait, but I forgot; our three Belletts/Wasps weren't the only Isuzus there! Eli had his Holden (Isuzu) Piazza. He's put a bunch of JDM stuff on it and bought it as an engineless shell a couple of years ago. He's done a LOT of work to get it on the road, except he didn't have time to chamois it... and it's black.

There was much hubbub about the "$700,000 car". Turns out it was a Lexus LF-A! I must say; these look much more impressive in real life than in the magazines. Properly like a supercar.

This guy's Mazda RX3 is actually a JDM Savanna GT he imported from Japan. It had copped a spray, but was otherwise original. He also had a mint RX2... which someone told me they had seen for sale on eBay for $35,000....

I have to say, that factory exhaust was totally nuts.

I'd seen this barn-find Cedric on Facebook earlier; the car had to be towed as it was not yet roadworthy, but it was nice to see it out. 60,000 miles, but it had been left in a yard for a few years, which did it no favours.

This KPGC-10 Nissan Skyline GTR was very, very nice and was one of the featured cars of the show, next to the LF-A. Unfortunately, it was bonnet-up all day which made a sleek photo difficult. And the NSW plates were disappointing; was hoping it was a local car! I also overheard many, many people say, "Is it a genuine GTR?". Haven't heard that before.

Took a photo of this choice Subaru Vortex. The Sony head unit also had a karaoke setting (with microphone). This photo is for Gav bellett65. Get one of these to replace the Enfield!

This roof console was out of control; so many warning lights outside of the driver's visual range! I would assume a chime would be involved...

It was a good day even if it was oppressively hot and humid; nothing about 90 minutes in the pub across the road didn't help out with.

Everyone enjoyed it. Oh except this guy:

Good one Dave, great wrap up.

You forgot to mention those who did not attend due to baby-sitting malfunction and pre-school temper tantrums...however, the 3 hours worth of polishing did not go to waste, as I parked the GT just up ANZAC Hwy a few meters. No-one noticed, but I did. :)

Have to say, the show could have done with about 100 less Skylines...you should have tried getting in line for a right-hand turn onto Brighton Road with all those plastic hot rods returning to Reynella! Not that I'm not a fan, just not enough variety. I totally missed the RT112 Corona Hardtop (I love a good overhead console), but after the 411 Bluebird the mint RX2 was pretty well car of the show for me. Other tasty vehicles were the RT72 Corona 1900 Hardtop (minus the poxy rims), the early Celica GT replica and, of course, the Mighty Boy wading pool was a winner with the little unit.

Would love to see a yearly focus and really try drag out the good stuff...Kei Car Year, Early Skyline Year, Celica Year, etc. I'll re-load again next year.

Catchya then!

Great photos. You also forgot to mentoin the other guy who couldnt get there cause he had to sit at a wedding in the church in the city, dressed up in the full suit. Did I mention there was nooooo aircond in the church and everyone was almost passing out  . Reception made up for it though. Hope you all had a great day. Anyway, I was never bringing a car so no tragic loss for the promotion of all things Bellettness.

That's not a bad idea! I took a photo of a Suzuki Alto Works RS-R, with is the turbo AWD version, plus there was the Mighty Boy, Iron Chef and Import Monster's entry into the Shitbox Rally for 2013 (yes that's the name of the rally), but not enough Kei's this year. I think I saw a Carry too, but they're not the oddball ones!

Whatever happened to all the Suzuki Cappacinos we used to see around!??! And there used to be that (Mazda) Autozam AZ-1 that practically lived in Hindley Street...

Anyway, we'll have to email off the boys of AJD and let them know a theme is in order!

I've seen that RT72 before; pity about the rims, etc but the fact that it still exists means it's not a total tragedy!

Cheers,

Dave

Funny thing about that Black Piazza, Dave

my wife and i bought it from the original owners in Gawler in 1997. It had 43,000km on the clock with a letter of identification from Delaer as to its provinance. was owned by a middle aged couple who drove it to shops and church. they had to upgrade to a commodore sedan to allow easier access into the back seat for their 75 year old mother.

we only did about 35,000 in it in 5 years or so and sold it onto a family friend. it stripped the timimg belt while my wife was driving into a service station one day and it would not start. got it towed home and very very fortunate to not have any valves and pistons come together.
replaced the belt and water pump and away she went.

we were also the ones to put the AA plates on it as well. a real pity someone pulled the original engine. most likely a gemini head wanting bolt in performance.

good to see it back on the road

The Autozam used to belong the the guy who ran Supermild at the time, who's name escapes me. He was so coked up all the time, I used to ask him if he wanted to sell it every time I saw him, in the vain hope he'd be short a buck some day. It had a broken passenger side window for about 2 years, he claimed he couldn't get the part. However, the upside is that I saw it in the Hungry Jacks carpark on Rundle Street about 2-3 months back, so it's still alive. I see a Cappacino almost daily in Alberton, there's a Beat about as well. They should all be there!

Awesome story Oz. I kinda know the guy so will direct him to this thread!

Duane, good to hear the AZ-1 is still out there! Toyota Sera and DeLorean owners can't have all the gullwing fun!!

Claws! Bugger dude; Bruno said you had a wedding. 38 degrees in a church with no aircon? Sounds like my wedding! Also mate I gave him your grille; he's a lot closer to you than me so he'll swing it by your place soon I have no doubt!

Cheers,

Dave
