We wondered who was sneaking back over the border from SA with a Florian in tow? well done Chev74 was quite a trip for you to get your first Donkey. the second was quite a bit closer most of us are reasonably friendly, so feel free to ask for any help with parts and Technical info I have a complete set of Florain manuals if there is any part you need to query. I am afraid they are not for sale. cost me nearly half of what my last florian cost. the car was cheap, the manuals not! and I also have a gasket or 2 kicking about for the early Isuzu engine Chev Luv (non Gemini type) cheers OZ

Good onya for picking it up, I thought about it, but must maintain the harmony! You would be the only owner of a model pair (small / large taillight) in the country I think. Anyone know different? Preserve it if you can, or P.M. me if you can't. For a '74 you may have to look overseas as they weren't sold here. They were taxis in Indonesia, thats not so far away! Cheers, Matt.

Hey OZ, Thanks for the offer regarding the manuals. I am sure I will need some advice once I get into restoring these cars. I know a little about LUV”s but I’m out on a limb when it comes to Florian’s. I will post some more picks once I have picked it up and evaluated the car. Never the less, even if it’s worse that what it looks, I’m still very happy that I have saved it. Cheers, Chris

Hey Matt, That’s an interesting comment about the model pair. Makes it even more special to me now. Do you or anyone else know, how do you determine the exact year these Florian’s are? Yes, I am definitely keeping an eye out for a 74, I have been looking overseas including Indonesia. I just earlier this month bought a LUV in the Philippines. I am yet to have it shipped out here. When I do I will let you know how I got on and post some picks Found a really nice 81 Florian in Sri Lanca. He wanted $5750 for it, Too much for me http://ikman.lk/en/isuzu-florian-for-sale-gampaha-2 Cheers, Chris

Do you or anyone else know, how do you determine the exact year these Florian’s are? Hey Chris, I have a wheels road test for the early florian for the Jan '69 issue (Sold in Dec '68) They say "A few months ago we thought we'd miss out on the Florian......" So released late in '68, then replaced by the facelifted car sometime in '69. Sales were stopped in 1970 by GMH when they took over Australian opperations. Main differences are the smaller taillights, flat grille & headlights and different shape to the rear quarter window. Yours is the only early example I know of anywhere! I can only call 12 Florains to mind, in any condition! Pretty rare. Have fun. Cheers, Matt.

Yea Mr F, I always wanted to do the same, but I don't have the heart to to destroy a whole Florian to do it. Maybe one will come up with a seriously damaged rear end Farmer wrote: Yours is the only early example I know of anywhere! Hey Matt, I wouldn't mind getting a copy of that article This story is just getting better and better Thanks for your info guys, Cheers, Chris

luckily for me i have a spare 69 florian front that i got from one that was beyond saving! (i could not part out a florian now unless it was completely stuffed) kept all the bits i could from it though!
now i just have to save enough money to get a half reasonable luv!

And another Angel is saved from the gates of Scrap Metal Hell. Today I finally went and picked up my precious little gem. As you can see by the picks, it was once light blue. She comes with all the rust and the odd spider that I expected. But I will do my best to try and restore her and save a little Isuzu heritage. He did tell me that someone had been there and scavenged some other parts. Cheers, Chris

This makes me happy. I couldn't stand the thought of this one going to waste, but wasn't able to save it myself. There are a few rusty spots, but you have the most rare Isuzu I can think of, so even if you just fishoil it up & stabilise it then thats a good thing. Goodonya!! Cheers, Matt.
