Hey Guys.
Now with the New Battery I thought i could startup the engine for you and post it here, not realy into youtube so dont want to go down that path, just thought it would make a good feature.. to show you guys.
Nutserts and a couple of bits of aluminium.. and there you have it. its a VT Commadore Battery.

Chris wrote: Its Disaster time with cars in our house, my wife's Peugeot Cabriolet starter motor went, so she's using the Hilux Ute... and i got a call in a meeting that the battery had died... so while i was getting 1.. I thought id get one for the Bellett.
Peugeot wanted $1100??? so i got one from Germany for $120... new.
You have to ask why is it so expensive here when as a consumer i can buy one from the EU and get it shipped for a 10th of the price.
Cheers
Chris
P.S. can you load a video on here? It's called profiteering, or charging what the market will bear, because everyone knows "how dear euro parts are". They're cutting their own throats though, 'cause pretty soon nobody wants euro cars.(Good riddance?) Buy Jap or Korean, less likely to break, cheaper to fix. Rant rant rant! Sorry. Cheers, Matt.

Amazing, the starter motor is all swapped out, oil change / filter done, its amazing the diffrence in the starting, it sounds more solid... now the roof is falling apart so more money to be spent on the little Pug... thankgod for the Hilux... its the workhorse in our little family of cars, doesn't ask for much and just keeps on going.
it's intresting that i can buy the same item overseas cheaper delivered that i can purchase it here, but i know somtimes its the otherway, the world is getting smaller... just bought a 24" 12v LED TV from Kogan (nice picture) here.. and sent it to Langkawi to go on a 42' Yacht for my cousin... it probably came from there to here and i am sending it back there.. all cheaper than they can get it over there...
Ill get back to the Bellett, I changed the rear tail lights on the car when i was painting it because the original ones where all broken up, and i couldnt get any new ones... i have been thinking about doing some more work on the little car exhaust system and fitting up the lights, unfortunatly i modified the holes so the standard ones wont go back in.
Cheers
Chris

I'm all for hotting up a bellett but personally I've always felt the line should be drawn at body mods like lights, etc... But then part of me has always thought that the near- flat rear panel would lend itself well to a vast variety of alternatives!!!
There's a dude on here with the only known bellett gt in Malaysia. His gt runs round tail lights from a Mitsubishi t-box, which needless to say we never got here. Makes the rear look a bit like a clubsprint capri which isn't necessarily a bad thing!
Just don't use lights that are rarer than the originals or it will be out of the frying pan and into the fire!!

Chris, that is one great looking sedan. You want to get that rolling for the SA regular hills and country runs. Our numbers have been a little sad of recent times. 3 to 4 cars and 5 or 6 guys!
Claws has a Sedan he is getting on the road by Christmas and it has some mods too?
So looking forward to a good crawl around the body and engine bay of your car.
Cheers

The engine is a 4XE1-WT out of a JT 4wd Gemini, I picked up the engine from a wreckers when I saw it there.. I had to do a few mods to get it to fit in the engine bay... only protrudes slightly I have a bonnet mold to go over the hole I had to cut but the bonnet needs a bit of work done to it.

Not sure if it got finished or is it yours ? It had a Nissan gearbox adapted to it. Do you have more pictures of engine bay and what you had to do to fit it? glenn

Hey Chris just down at Largs Bay tonight, great sunset and had a hoot at the Surf Livesaving club... hope you can get some enthusiasm going again to get the car finished and on the road. it would be one of the most unique modified sedans here in OZ and sure to get lots of attention where ever it was seen. we did have Violet Crumble here in SA with an early series Twin Cam motor and Claws on the forum has an early 66 sedan with a 1800 Twin Cam that is nearly on the road. both of these motors are mid to late 70's engines. to my knowledge, nothing like your sedan with the late model motor exists anywhere else in the country. the guys here in SA are itching to crawl all over it and see the fantastic work you have done cheers OZ
