Thanks GT.
There was rumours back in the paddock that my 'celeb' driver Alec Poole 'went gardening' during his race.....and here he is showing the Bellett's off road capabilities..

Looks like the Nationals were again a great success, well done everybody.
Here's a clip of the St Mary's grid rounding Madgwick corner, I'm quite pleased with how the car looks.

Too bad that my schedule did not fit to visiting. It would been nice to meet pomBellett and rest of the team. Don't know how the celeb race was organized, but meeting Poole would been interesting as well as I have made (for GT Legends) his 1968 ETCC car (British Vita / Weslake Cooper 970 S) and I have in works his 1969 BSCC winning Mini (Equipe Arden Cooper 970 S) as well. getting technical information about the group 5 cars used back in a day is tedious, as there was so many special built components.

Image
Some british vitamins from 1968 ETCC season. ;)

The latter of two is not in very high priority, as I am hoping to find time work with the GT-R Bellett still in works. (it's missing a lot final touches, but the finnish isuzu owners club guys liked it quite lot already in national meeting in july. (they raced it until 3am in the morning.))

Hi Mark, wondering how you got on with the disk rotors you were converting to use on Rollie some time ago? Do you have any further details of mods etc. I recall they were quite thick (14mm) and would have to be turned down for GT calipers.

Yes Glenn, they're definitely too chunky for the GT caliper...we've even had to turn them down to fit our Metro calipers...I think you'd have to do this to any modern disc to make them fit the GT, but as I recall the PCD and the offset were all good. The holes are not threaded either, so we've used bolts.
We're on our third set now, so we're getting pretty good at making them fit!

Mark, at that thickness I would imagine they are also vented rotors ?

No, just standard solid jobs. Besides we would never be allowed to run vented. Although when we machine them back, we always cut a groove into the edge of the disc to increase the surface area and hence improve cooling.

Continuing the current rash of excellent period shots of Belletts on the track.....look what Polara Jim has unearthed.

This is obviously the McLaren Bellett at Goodwood on that soaking wet Bank Holiday, before it blew up.
Jim then 'oldified' a pic of Rolie at the same place on the circuit.

You must be happy with your suspension. That McLaren car left front wheel looks like it's"tip toeing" around the corner. Yours has a bit more grip. B&W photos often bring out the best in some pics. This 1 does.

Probably because the Mac is going twice as fast Dave.....!

Anyway back to the here and now, here at Bellett Central UK we're feeling pretty pleased with ourselves, as we've been invited to the big new meeting at Goodwood....have a look at this when you've got a minute....

http://www.goodwood.co.uk/members-meeti ... eting.aspx

Not only is this my home turf, the Sears Trophy (In which Rolie will run) looks like it's going to be a more level playing field than the Revival grid.....they've made a big deal of the fact the super fast Galaxies and BMW TISAs have not been invited.

The engine is going to remain untouched for the time being, but I've got a couple of the slightly later 3 sychro boxes from the boys in Finland, which hopefully will improve things.
But the biggest change is going to be the move from 14'' to 13'' wheels. I've had a fairly modern set of steels banded to 5.5'', which is according to Dunlop the optimum width for the tyres we have to run.

We've got a full test on the 24th Feb and I'm hoping/expecting big difference/improvements.

In the meantime, I'm going to a darkened room to have a little cry about the cricket

Hi Mark

Found this Interesting Dress Code in the FAQ section !

What is the dress code?

As with any exclusive club, the GRRC Members’ Meeting is intended to be both stylish and relaxed, an informal yet smart event, with everyone expected to respect a dress code accordingly. Gentlemen will be required to wear jackets and either a tie, cravat or polo-necked sweater at the event. Ladies are also encouraged to wear smart clothing. Blue jeans, t-shirts, low cut or revealing tops, shorts, short skirts, flip-flops, sportswear, baseball caps and heavily branded clothing are strongly discouraged, as are costume or fancy dress.

As it is an open air event, comfortable shoes and casual clothing is best. Always bring some wet weather clothing as the British weather can be unpredictable!
