Don't know if anyone else has heard about this iconic cruise which happens every year at year's end in Adelaide. It is open to all Classics, Moderns, Street machines and Ratters, infact anything you wish to display on wheels is welcome. Well over 1000 cars turn up every year. Usually everyone congregates at a shopping centre parking lot, then heads off on dusk to cruise the length and breadth of Adelaide.

Dave, Sarah, young Jman and Ross were heading to it and my son Brad and I were to meet them there. We weren't heading for the cruise but it was AWESOME to be in the massive throng of machines and mayhem in the car park for at least an hour. Dave's GTR and my GT attracted a fair bit of attention as usual.

I went mad with the camera but only got a small snap shot of the enourmity of the turn out, parking and standing room only. Enjoy.

Apart for a mass of beefed up Aussie and American muscle, there was also the strangest turn out of Delorians, 4 in fact. Got a pic of 3 in a row leaving. Also a shot of the Jman being a comedian, and the local constable also joining proceedings sporting his new VF Commodore!!

Great pics man!

I am going to put some up today or tonight hopefully!

It's always a massive turnout; I was trying to explain it to PR91 Brett; no clubs, no theme; just a guy who used to SMS about 100 people and the rest is word-of-mouth.

He now has a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/JafsLastCruise

He doesn't even tell Westfield it's happening, but he DOES tell the police.

The same few guys come and stand around. If something's really awry with your car or you're a dickhead, they will have words, but other than that, they leave well alone.

I heard from Jaf's Mrs that in 2012, four cars out of the 1000 or so got defected and out of them, three of them said, "yeah well, I had that coming".

So it's a pretty remarkable event. I tried to take video on my ailing phone to give an idea of scope, but chasing after a toddler at the same time made it pretty overwhelming.

Pics soon!

Cheers,

Dave

hey guys.

would have been good to know about the event BEFORE the event occurred, as belated makes it extremely difficult to attend?????????

Hey Oz,

Yeah I was thinking I should put it up here to advise people, but then I forgot/modem died/etc/Xmas happened.

I certainly did not mean to be exclusionist about the whole thing.

Furthermore, I had some car troubles (just points, but I'm useless) so I wasn't sure if I'd even be attending myself!

If you're on FB, hit the above URL and 'like' it; that way you'll know doubly sure for next year! I'm not sure if I'm in for next year; we're thinking of going away, but nothing's set in concrete yet.

Cheers,

Dave

WHAAAT....."HAD THE WHOLE BACK TO THE FUTURE KIT" :P  . That would be something to behold, photos please Davo.

Yeah, likewise Oz. Apologies on my behalf also, as it was a last minute decision on a whim to actually be part of it. I know, bit of a bugger with you being just around the corner, literally. I was also on fire call so couldn't hang around and felt a bit compromised when I got stuck in the very, very congested parking lot

Hope to get organised for the actual cruise next year (if not on duty) and see how many Belletts we can muster up.

Cheers, B.

I reckon that guy was on the tele the other day; he dresses as Doc Brown and can configure his DeLorean to how it appeared in the first, second or third movie.

Here are my choice pics from the night!

First up, just to prove that literally ANYTHING and EVERYTHING rocks up; an MG ZT sedan!

This Mercury sedan looked 100% original and, being a 4-door RHD, would have been Australian-assembled.

I'm a big fan of the 'Finnie' Mercedes Benz! The guy in the back was stoked I was taking a photo!

Have to admit; I was surprised to see a Leyland P76 there. Seconds after I took this picture, the empty park next door was taken by a late-model Nissan Stagea! Takes all kinds to make Jaf's Cruise!

You don't see a lot of International Scouts anymore; there were two at this event, a stocky SWB model and an insanely lift-kitted LWB. Sadly they were parked a car apart from each other, so no opportunity for a good photo shoot, unfortunately.

Perhaps one of my favourite cars growing up; a Holden LX Torana SS hatch with all the A9X stuff on it. Can't tell you if it was genuine, but at this cruise, you never know!

Again, another comparison of the massive differences in vehicles; a HQ Monaro GTS sedan next to a VW Beetle. This guy was just checking which end the motor was, I guess.

Another of my favourites growing up was the "Walkinshaw", which as everyone knows is actually called the Holden Commodore SS Group A SV. Yeah. Everyone knows that. There were two there.

This XY Falcon panelvan GT replica was a beauty, although that purple stripe clashes with the black bonnet and tail a bit.

Never liked Mustangs much...this one is angry and hates its owner.

When Holden helped design and build the Elfin MS8 range (Clubman and Streamliner) I assumed that overtly Porsche-like performance at much-less-than-Porsche-money would be a recipe for success! Of course, they forgot about the corners, around which the Porsche would gracefully and efficiently turn, while the Elfins slid, slipped and crashed. Commodores are heavy. Probably for the best; you put the running gear in these go-karts and they're a danger to society!

Having said that, I'd go an MS8 Clubman anyday. But for today, I will have to settle on looking at this cool Streamliner. I've seen less than 4 of either, anywhere.

This Dodge was cool with the vintage-style paint and signage, plus a mis-matched tub.

The sun was getting low and the cars were hard to photograph...especially when they were reflective stainless steel!

The 1959 Chevrolet range are cool and famous for their flat, 'Batmobile'-style fins. I've always loved the Australian-delivered versions though with their little 283ci motors and, best of all, the rear indicators that 'hang' underneath the fins! US-spec cars were able to have red blinkers, but no in Oz, so we got the cool under-fin items!

I grabbed this comparison shot of two different but similar year C3 Corvettes showing how different the rear glass treatment was. I much prefer the earlier glass, pictured on the right.

Shane and Carly Dale's Buick is always cool, lined up here with some very tidy arses!

Did I forget one?

Oh yeah! Bruno hadn't arrived yet and I was scoping for some more Jap-spec love amongst the sea of Aussie and US muscle cars; lucky I found Adrian with a 4AGE-powered KE20!

Happy New Year!

Cheers,

Dave
