we are heading down Thursday with a lay day to watch Bathurst on the way down. but we will be following the coast. Cruising Tassie for the rest of the month after the nats. We have hired motor homes as it was our best option and the cars will go into storage.

And try the local oppy shops - my daughter bought me a great warm snow coat from an opp on the gold coast really cheap. Southerners move up there with their stuff, then realise you don't have a winter, so give it to the opp. Then nobody buys it!
One thing you should have is waterproof stuff, you sure get rain!!
Cheers, Matt.

I reckon you want something waterproof, long and waterproof! I imagine it will be like here, but wetter!
I'm taking my Drizabone and its hat and wool undercoat. My Merimbula jacket and some layers. Often you don't need bulk, just plenty of layers. Then you can add them or peel em as needed. Light thermal undies really are as good as they say. (Damart types.)
And wool socks, they are warm (ish) even when wet. And mittens are better than gloves, more grip and comfort.
And a wool beenie, if your head is warm you can get around in shorts.

Port is good too.

Cheers, Matt.

Hi everyone, don't believe what you hear about Tassie being cold. Average daily max for October on the NW coast is 17 degrees, with average minimum temp of 7. That's nowhere near freezing point.

Oh and If you've got room add in a good set of wet weather tyres.
