OK champs...

I have here a photo taken from Mr Hiroshi Nakano's Facebook page.

Can anyone (preferably not someone who has seen the post) tell me what's going on here?

I've worked it out with a combination of Google Translate and Wikipedia and found the outcome very, VERY interesting!

Check it out....

Oh, did I mention this car is JDM?

Who can tell me what's wrong with this picture? I can spot two glaring issues that have confused and confounded me!

Confused yet?!?!?

Cheers,

Dave

Hmmm, orange, like a GTR, but sedan type mirrors.
Left hook, but driving on the left.
Late (69 on) steering, but right side parking wipers.

Anomoly city! Whats the go?

Cheers, Matt.

It most likely is a sedan :?: deluxe clock not oil pressure gauge and sedan heater consol. lhd in what looks like Japan this is not unusual as lots of lhd cars over there but a Isuzu :?: strange.

It was apparently sold new in Okinawa, birthplace of Mr Miyagi and US territory from 1945 to 1972. As a result, the island was LHD/right side of road from 1945 to 1978 when they finally organised 730 Day on 30 July to do the changeover.

Further discussions amongst the Japanese Bellett enthusiasts on Facebook suggest this may be one of three built but I'm not entirely sure.

Mind....BLOWN!

'69 Year. Front bumper just below headlight. Gt style. Vents in rear 1/4 panel. Suspect has strip taillights.
Conversion chart under speedo on kneepad. Mph-Kph. Has Deluxe features. Hence clock.

The MPH speedo was because it was sold in Okinawa; US territory and therefore all about the MPH.

Remember, the Japanese had KM/H since well before the Bellett was released; one of the sedans tested in a magazine along with the first GT, DUN999, all had KM/H speedos as they were fully JDM-spec when they arrived!
