My mate Dave called in to tell me of a detour he made a few days ago, a detour from a road I travel along at least once a month. He told me of a sighting that might be of interest to me. So as luck would have it, I had to drive that way today. So of course I had to have a little look. Sure enough, just 2km off the main road, a little blue teardrop sits in the paddock. I might have to investigate. A real nice bloke answers the door and says "Yeah, I've got a Bellett. You want to have a look?" So around we go.... Attachment:

Yeah its a bit rough, but very little rust in the important parts, and all but complete. 1 headlight surround gone, and one damaged, but everything else there, even the glovebox catch! So he asks "Is it any use to you?" I think so! So he tells me he saved it from going for scrap about 8 years ago and took it home. He thought someday someone would come and ask about it. So that would be today! So he says, "You better take it then." Freebie! So then I ask, "So whats the story with the Florian? "Oh, its my son's...... Attachment:

Also all complete, well apart from the headlights. And without rust. And it drove to where it is, which until a couple of weeks ago was in a shed. But the white ants and a big wind gust removed the shed, luckily around the Florian and not on it. So what will he do with it? "Well, he probably wont give it away. He will probably want fifty bucks!" I reckon that will be ok. So after we get back from Tassie, I'll have some retrieving to do. Sometimes you just have a nice day.......... Matt.

Me like your Bellett.net post What I don't understand is how your mate happened to venture 2 km off that road to find it....Maybe he heard someone talking about that car a while ago in town. Anyway Farmer.... A terrific find!

Anyway Farmer.... A terrific find! I know! How bad am I at finding Isuzus?? Scorecard for finding Bellett/Wasp/Florian/Elf/Luvs within 200km = Dave: 5 Craig: 1 Josh: 1 Donal: 3 Geoff: 1 Matt: 0 Yep, big fat zero. I'm hopeless! The good part though, many of these are in my shed/yard. Its nice having mates who want to help me save Isuzus. Real nice. Story with Dave is, he is a scrapper, but tries to save anything that anyone might want. And he is a Rod builder and spray painter, so loves classic tin. So everywhere he goes, he is scouting, to get things out of the paddock and to people who want them. The first time I met him he told me about the column shift (Jimmy), which was soon in my carport. And I've borrowed his trailer a heap of times, and looks like I will be again when we get back from Tassie. Cheers, Matt.

its so great to have mates who keep a sharp lookout for classic tin, regardless of the make or model. and a trailer to borrow to boot, excellent !!! and it doesn't matter who finds it, as long as it ends up in your back yard and your generosity to the other Bellett faithful is being rewarded all the time. Wahoo OZ

Well Done Matt. Will they all conga line from your front gate to the house.? Now. What do we call your place.? I know. "BELLETT PARADISE''. Matt has admitted that he doesen't find them. His mate does. And supplies a trailer to boot. This is how I worked out the naming. We have 'BEMBOKA BELLETT BLOKE'. Or is it 'ISUZU BEMBOKA'. Matt's big Bro. Gary. 'THE ORPHANAGE' in Kilcoy. Foster parents Greg & Liz. 'GRICEY'S PLACE' in Albury/Wodonga. A resting place for the weary Bellett-Isuzu owner. Host & Hostess Gricey & Cheryl. 'BELLETT HEAVEN' is my place in central Queensland. The name given to me by Bob the truck driver who delivered the last 2. 'BELLETT PARADISE'. Because any Isuzu that ends up there will be in PARADISE. Dave.

No doubt about you Dave. How is it living at Bellett Heaven?? Gotta be good! Hmmm, conga line....might be an idea for after we get home, once these two are safely retrieved. Ya gotta have fun. Cheers, Matt.

mrflibbles wrote: the round lights on the flo dont look that bad, maybe the origionals have been substituted with luv lights? Yeah, thats my guess mate. They seem well aimed and follow the curvature, and fit inside the original surrounds. I'll get a proper look once its home. Another thing I noticed with the Bellett, it has all original upholstery, with no tears! The dust is so thick I can't tell the colour, and maybe they're all brittle & will disintergrate if I sit on them, but maybe not. I reckon it may have been shedded for much of its life. Thanks everyone for the nice sentiments. I just reckon I need to do what I can to keep our little cars on the road and giving us joy. Thanks, Matt.

BIG score! The Florian looks good with round lights mounted like that...who knew!
I told someone the other day at the servo that mine will be written off if I break one of those lights in a prang!!!

Those lights look like the special model that Dave (SA) brought up on a previous topic. Misplaced my Florian parts book. When I find it, there may be some history about that car. I calculate that you may be 1 car short. Will have to pay you another visit to set it right. Living in BELLETT HEAVEN isn't too bad. I get home from work and greeted by the Ballaratt sedan. Open the tilt-a-door and there's my sedan in pieces again. Blew the clutch fork pivot ball on the way to the Bellett 50th. Go out the back door and 2 GT's waiting paitentley to be worked on. Roll up the roller on the shed and Tamworth is also waiting. Yeh. It's OK. Dave.
