Couple of us went all the way back to Longford, near Launceston, today to see what we could find of the old race track that was there until 1968. The reason? Pat Crea raced there in his sedan in 1967, and set a lap record during the race that was never beaten so still stands. What we found was amazing and pics are to follow (dumb phone won't upload pics). The famous Viaduct and run down to the Kings Bridge location was just fantastic, and we had a beer or 2 and dinner in the actual pub on Longford Corner where Lex Davsion smashed into the wall of the pub, got out of his car, walked inside and got a beer (true!). We also went across the railway crossing jump, found the Tannery Straight site, went around Newry Corner, the Flying Mile, and Mountford Corner and found parts of the original racing surface that you really need to go looking for.... Add the Bellett stuff we found in the pub itself about Pat Crew racing there as well as the general racing memorabilia, and we were just in awe.

Wowzers great pics everyone and thanks so much for pronto posting of them Looks like there was never a smile missing from a face and more memories added to the family album. Cograts to Barrie n Trish, I love their car. Has been my peoples choice at a couple of nationals and with the line up this year, would have been again . Your most welcome YP, I've had that badge a while and always planned something special for it and what could possibly have been a more special occasion. Damn I wish I was there to see your reaction:-D I have had an amazingly weekend in Perth with family and friends though so what ends well is well. Have been thinking of all the nationals goings on endlessly this weekend so thanks again to everyone for posting some pics but..... keep em coming! And to all those heading home and those about to start touring, safe travels and soak in the memories. Then hopefully we'll see everyone in Toowoomba next year for another family reunion:-D:-D:-D
