hoping to get most of it done friday night saturday after work and sunday, will take the head off and see if i can get the valves done during the week. i was hoping to get my 1600 going in the near future, but that will be a longer term project now and once it is done i will have the problem of having a spare engine... so i may have to find another bellett for then!

well the bellett has been neglected for a little while, lurking at the back of the shed! Today decided to do something about it! I put all the ignition stuff back on that i stole for the florian! gave the rat a good vacuum and put on the lockable fuel cap the pa_man supplied me with! Its so shiney it doesnt quite fit the rest of the rat! Its also the only lock on the car that works!
I would have tried to start the rat but out of the 4 batteries i have they are all flat! oh well tommorrow ill hear the sweet sound of the rat running again!

but not too much love, Matt. They thrive only years and years of neglect. All except the brake system which is usually master cyclinder empty and pedal straight to the floor!! But engines are amazing and a quick squirt of kero, diesel or WD40 and crank over till oil pressure returns and fuel down the carbi, it will fire away on all 4, in seconds.
Clever little bugger's, those Japanese fellows!

Be careful squirting diesel in there to lube the bores up as diesel is a detergent and if it goes anywhere beyond the bores it can strip out any grease and oil off bearings causing major internal damage.......
Have seen it happen and have had it happen so stick to the trusty old WD/Inox or something similar

yeah gotta be careful with diesel, but i have used it in the past to unstick a stuck engine!
its all good though! i squirted some oil down the bores (not too much!) and she cranked over well, just not starting. So i double checked everything and the dissy cap has lost its centre bit that contacts the rotor! Second time ive had that happen! oh well ill get another cap during the week and see how it goes next weekend, if all goes well i might even wash it!

Check in the bottom of the dizzy for the carbon button, I had the same thing happen to my Datto 180B and I found it under the points. Popped it back in the cap and it was happy days.

Hi Do you have a picture of how the brakes are connected? or you could take a picture for me? Looks exciting, it is not similarly linked on our cars here in the north.

Bellett Sweden, you might say wire in our Bellett's, it is rod actuated, no cable or wire. No master cylinder or fluid involved, only the brakes have a master cylinder.

We have a master clutch cylinder on our cars, both the brakes and clutch uses brake fluid, do you have any picture of it? then it must be because you have the steering wheel on the wrong side... What a nice accelerator control you have!
