I am normally wary of the traffic over there while crossing the roads, but I darted between cars in a flash to get to the other side!
( pedestrian crossings and red lights don't mean a lot )
Luckily for me the driver spoke English and we chatted for a while about his car.
It is a 1966 model, left hand drive, and according to him the only one in Lima ( or maybe the only one he has ever seen...)
Quite a chance sighting in a city of close to 10 million with some of the worst traffic in the world.
It has a bit of panel damage, but that is par for the course over there. Apparently he bought it off the first owner, now an old lady, a few years ago.
Looks like a Deluxe model going by the badges and chrome window frames.
The front & rear seats have also been changed to later ones from another car- don't know what model but they fit well.
Anyway, his name is Lucho and he wants to do the car up one day but cannot get any spares so I told him about this site.
Hopefully he will get on here and tell us more about the Peruvian Bellett.
I also have his contact email so will send him a message soon.
Cheers Rod! (sorry about some of the crap pics....
)
