Hi guys,
Sorry I've been completely absent lately!!
The great news is that I'm submitting the Bellett Nationals article to Unique Cars as we speak; I took 800 photos so there should be a few good ones.
I apologise in advance to those that didn't get coverage; there were so many great cars and people, a 300-word limit plus five owner profiles couldn't cover it all.
The great news is that I negotiated some extra words and have had Unique Cars grant me a six-pager rather than a four-pager. I'm stoked! I don't normally get a say in that!
Finally, I no need to clarify a couple of things. I'd had a couple of beverages at the Hoedown so I have an excuse, but Lewis took home "Best GT" didn't he? I'm certain, but I don't want my facts to be wrong.
In fact, I'll clarify them all here:
Lewis - Best GT Steve Thompson - Best sedan Peter Betyounan - Best Other Isuzu (for his 117 coupe) James Darvas - People's Choice.
Does that sound right? I'm outta room for the runners up!!
I will get you all know when the article is out. I haven't put any pics up because a) I've been too busy (four articles for Street Machine since I returned, newborn daughter, wife with cancer; usual stuff) and also because b) I didn't want to put pics up that may end up intellectual property of the magazine or however that works!
Yay tho!! Stoked!
Cheers,
Dave

Surprisingly, they've put the entire article up online before the magazine has hit the stands. Check it here: https://www.tradeuniquecars.com.au/even ... 16-gallery1) I didn't choose the URL to be 'VIC' 2) I JUST realised that the event had a different name this year 'Isuzus on the Murray'. Apologies Gricey I've put thru a correction but it may be too late. It's been the Bellett Nationals in my head the whole time, I didn't think to actually check the paperwork. 3) AWESOME!

People's Choice has always been the most important award because it is chosen by the people.
Great work James and well deserved. The 'Blacklocks Choice' is cream on the cake!

Nah all good there. Does need a look at in other areas tho...... A 1.5 single carb 4 cylinder should get better than 22mpg on the highway, or so you'd think.

Should be closer to 40. Its over jetted bit not by much. I think the ign advance unit is playing up as its got almost no low down poke too. I get high 30's in the GT depending in how I drive it on a given day too. Have seen very close to 40 on a long highway run. Has taken a bit of fiddling, but those Hitachi carbs are a damn good thing when u work them out.
