Bloody tin toys are worth more than the real thing!
I don't know if that's irony...

I don't know if that's irony... This is not a dig at you directly by any means Dave and perhaps straying off topic slightly, but........ One thing that really gets on my goat is that exact expression "Bloody tin toys are worth more than the real thing!" Of course value, worth, cost are all relative to the buyer and/or owner of any object, but it bewilders why people value so little the very thing they are so passionate about (again not directed at anyone particularly) I believe what we have is worth every cent what a Datto 1600, Mazda RX3 or Toyota AE86 is "considered" worth and I want any insurance company to believe it too. I know SHANNONS is an exception to the rule when it comes to insurance company's for classics which is why I insure everything car related through them but I have said it before and I will say it again....... If WE don't believe they are worth more than tin toys - WHO THE HELL WILL??????? By the way, if Ii wasn't for the fact that I'm rebuilding 4 cars atm. I would buy the red tear drop and the GT tin toys in a heartbeat They are about as rare as a 40 year old virgin Come to think about it..... So are our Bellett sedans/GT's/GTR's/117's/Wasps/ELF's

Its often the case that the toy can be worth more than the car. In the US Chev use to sell pedal car equivalents to their main cars so the kids could have one like Dads. Now some are worth a stack more than the cars. The detail on the Deluxe is Amazing!! Its the same with All collectables, I bought a Martin Distributors Clock, clock collectors would have thought I was nuts but was happy to spend quite a bit on it as I knew it could be a one off. Same with a Florian Lighter. Value it is Rarity + Desire = Shut up and take my money!! Josh

Spot on Sticky.
The only problem we have is that no one wants to (or like me, aren't able to ) put their hands in their pockets. I mean, how can cars like Bella and Violet Crumble sit for sale for so long and not get snapped up ? While ever there is a steady supply of cars that don't sell, we will never be able to bump up the prices (value ).

I know from my perspective, I have more cars than I can handle and also have another hobby besides, Collecting Valve Public Address Amplifiers and acc. so just cant afford them. If I had the money It would be a no brainer to buy those although I do admit if they were Wasp or Florian Tin Toys they would be gone by now. Getting our cars to shows and events is the only way to get fresh blood into the Bellett group and broaden the base for selling car to new enthusiasts. Thats why if I have a part someone need i'm more that happy to pass it on (along with many others on the forum) as it shows any new comer to Bellett.net that if they buy one there are people around around Australia the will be there to help when required. Anything to attract possible new Bellett enthusiasts.
Josh

Like I say, not directed at any individual person just a generalization as I know having the dollars is always a serious key factor. That's why I snapped up Ross's blue tear drop for almost double what anyone else offered. I saw extra value in it so I payed a bit extra, besides the money was going to a very worthy cause (I think it was worth twice as much but I have to factor in transport from Abury to Brissy as well which doubles the price again...... and yeh Gricey I'll get around to moving it from your place some time soon too ) And as has been said, Bella, Violent Crumble and even the tidy 68 auto not far from me for that matter are all prime examples of sensational Bellett buying value being passed up. LOVE that lighter Josh it's a cracker!!

From the US as well, couldnt believe it! bought the 2 and gave one to MrFlibbles There is a red 67 Sedan here thats pretty good value too, been around for ages. That why we need to generate more interest in these great little cars, there a some great "get in and drive" bargains to be had. A more affordable option for getting into classic Japanese tin!! Josh

I love the lighter pa_man, it is living with all my florian & Isuzu bits. I love these little tin cars and they would fit in with all the diecast cars i collect, but for the price i would rather a complete drivable car. There have been several cars come up for sale that i would love to have in my collection and i think alot of them are worth the money, I am just not in a postion to buy any of them!

Surely there would be one out there somewhere that somebody has no idea what it is worth and if for them to put it up for sale for a similar price to other tin toys? Picked up an aeroplane once. Sure it is in poor condition, doesn't work, is covered in surface rust, most of the propellers are missing their blades. But it looks seriously kool. I was just curious about how much it would be, so I asked the fellow selling it how much. His reply was $30. I couldn't believe it, no idea how much it was actually worth, but what a bargain it seemed and then he threw in a tin toy wagon as well, looks.the be based on a 63 Ford wagon and is friction powered! If only to find one like that!

Ok so I just googled "bandai Bellett" there is one on Yahoo auctions? At the moment. I could be really wrong here but that price is currently under 100 bucks? And there is a Cedric with it! That is a nice green two door!
