Ah, you blokes are good!
Yep this Lite Elf was made from 1967 to 72. We haven't identified the year yet, but 67 or 68 looks likely. Its powered by a standard 1500 Bellett motor and column 4 speed. It has the spin on oil cap, so that suggests 67. Hmm, its a 1.25 tonner and would have to be heavier than a Bellett. Imagine it fully loaded, like a Bellett with a 1.5 tonne caravan on behind! It would do it easy!
Neither of us have even seen one before, so amazing that this was sitting in Flynns wreckers in Cooma for decades. So close to Bemboka!
And you are right Davo, its in Gary's shed!! :D

Its all complete, and likely to be a runner! :) :D
Cheers, Matt.

I only knew what it was as a mate of mine from Malanda near Atherton Tablelands had one exactly like it only Pete's was a 68 style side truck and he reckoned there where a few of them up there still in paddocks at the time.

Sadly Big Pete past in 2010 but his truck is still up there somewhere as a local bought it when his estate was sold off

My old man bought his Nissan Junior of Pete in the early 90's which is when I first saw it, he also had a couple of early 60's Mazda lite trucks too. All probably still up there somewhere

There you go, there are others! I wonder if the styleside is still about. That would be a cool truck.
Gary rang last night and told me the engine number is within 300 of the one in the Bellett he bought new in 1967. As its powered by a standard 5 bearing Bellett motor that places it as a 67 model.
it is cleaning up well and is fully complete. :D
Matt.

There are at least 3 of them there mate. And everything is for sale.
Road trip? You would fit 2 on a car trailer!
:) Matt.

Hey guys,

Sorry I've not been on here much; life has been busy!

Glad to see some guys are still on it.

Nice find, Gary and Matt! Is that the same cab as Gary's Elf, but with a lighter/shorter/smaller chassis?

Cheers!

Dave
