Neville Hannah had them on at Eastern Creek, but he removes them to drive to and from. Or he gets Phyllis to do it! (I helped her fit them as her kicking method was looking a bit violent!)
I reckon they would stay on ok unless there was a ridiculous pothole or severe cornering episode. My Crown S ones stayed on for 20 years and about 300, 000 miles.
My Florian ones stayed on all the way to Adelaide and back for the 2013 Nats, so I tried them at Eastern Creek. There is a left hairpin in there and I was keen to keep with the Belletts and Gary's 117. We were 3 up, and my passengers were hanging on a bit, because Florians have a bit of body roll. Mary was leeeeaning, the tyres were were making that scuff-scuff-scuff sound, and out the left window all I could see was sky. But the hubcaps stayed on. Wilthout cable ties.
Just twist the claws slightly left and right alternately to prevent them rotating and cutting the valve stem.
Matt.
