Yeah, it can be a nit of a mystery. Any if the other things mentioned are possible. I have had the little insulator block have a hairline crack that allows an intermittent short. Once Doris started missing with no explanation after sitting for a while. At least it was while we were at home. After checking many things I put an ohm meter onto each end of one of the little leads in the dizzy. As I wiggled it round, the needle bounced all over the place. The wire had broken down with age. Here is Shrek's dizzy, and he goes really well. Attachment:

It is my only early dizzy equipped motor, all the others have the late long point one. Matt.

I should put mine in the hooks too then..... one day, eventually On a much sadder note though..... I think I have hit a hurdle that ends my chances of bringing the Wasp to the Nationals I have the engine running now but it seems to have a decent big end knock and really low oil pressure. I don't know if it's a result of the engine being run with the timing a mile out for so long or what but I don't think it will be a very wise idea to drive it to Albury, than Mudgee and back as it is. I'm now going to drive Donkey instead and when I get home I'll pull the Wasp's motor out and fix it properly. And I would have had it ready next weekend too if it wasn't for this happening

That's a shame Sticky. I was really looking forward to seeing it. I would love to have bought that one myself, but the divorce costs were too high. We believe that the original owner was known to one of my staff. He was a teacher?

Chin up Sticky, at least you have Donkey for the back up plan, as long as that doesn't upset Donkey Sorry to hear your news, on the positive side, best you found it now and not in the middle of western NSW "somewhere"!! Travel safe and see you soon now. Dave M.

It is a shame. I was really hoping to show everyone while it was still as it was when I picked it up, warts and all (other than the new brakes and steering components that is) There will be other chances, like the ICCA 50th anniversary perhaps

Hey, thats bad luck mate. Amazing how a Wasp that looks so good would have not be a goer. Every car I've brought home with a motor in it has run, and run well, but the bodies are usually a bit sad. You will fix him, and he will be great. Mechanical is easier than bodywork I reckon. See you and Donkey soon. Cheers, Matt.
