One of the reasons that I am (when budget allows) going to start looking seriously into inquiring for Bellett parts, through a friend, at a dealership in Japan, is because I keep seeing auction listings for Bellett parts, in new Isuzu boxes, with new Isuzu part stickers, that have the GM and Post-GM logos on the boxes and the labels. That dates these parts as Post-1990 for the GM logos, and Post-2009 for the current logo. This really stands out to me, because I have dealt with 1980's and 1990's parts extensively, and you can tell if a part has been sitting on a shelf for decades or is new manufacture based on what era the box or wrapping is, if it has a current logo on the sticker, if there are multiple stickers, and the quantity of dust caked to the packaging. The stickers are not easy to remove, and when they go through and update stock, if they bother to put new stickers on, they usually just place the new sticker over or next to the old one. If they tried to peel the sticker, they would rip the packaging. If the old sticker falls off, it leaves the dried orange adhesive behind and the outline of the sticker is unfaded on the box.

This leads me to believe that, while I am screwed because they are discontinuing every possible part for the 1980's and 1990's cars, someone high in the company hierarchy in Japan has made a deliberate decision to continue manufacturing Bellett parts.

I'm going to start making notes of part numbers cited or visible on the boxes in auction listings, and this is the first batch relating to exterior pieces:

Does this mean NEW lenses and panels are being pressed?

Excellent to hear JT, keep us posted as you find out new part numbers etc. Are these parts showing up on Yahoo japan or at other local auction houses?

Cheers,
R.

When ordering parts from a Japanese Isuzu dealer for older Isuzu models, there are 5 possible responses:

In stock at the current dealer.
In stock at another dealer.
In stock at Isuzu main parts warehouse.
Not currently available.
No longer available.

Not currently available means that Isuzu can get the parts made as the original supplier still exists and has the required dies/moulds/specifications etc. All that is required is enough orders and Isuzu will have a run of that particular part completed. This is why there are parts for older vehicles with new Isuzu boxes/logos. However as most of these suppliers were small family type businesses, they are becoming very scarce in Japan today, so this option is fast disappearing.

No longer available means just that.

Isuzu can also advise how many of each part they have left, even for older models like the Bellett or 117 Coupe.

Hope this helps.
