hi peter thank you for returning my post the chrome molds ..hmmm i think since you have posted here there are some gt owners out there perhaps ask farmer ..he did have a spares gt ??next to that post on here as wanted ...you have snookered me on that one i never took the chrome bits off hopefully a gt owner can throw light on this for you next to that maybee x japan there is a contact on here who is into princes he may souce for you ...good luck ..i have some photos here of me pulling it apart little bit different to the pro way you do it if you wish them pm me and i will send them mate you are great at what you are doing just found a couple shots of the trim pm me i will send them to your phone cheers dave

Well we finally have some colour. Next job is to put all the panels on, wet rub and then off to the spray booth for the exterior.

What a great achievement so far,admire anyone who takes on a project like this,we haven't had a great detailed read like this since the Orphanage restorations,thanks for showing each step,as for the colour,LUV it,I had a Pink GT at one stage :? yes I luved it Was a bloke on here Waldo same colour not shore if he finished,keep up the good work and enjoy,Gerry

Thanks for the kind words Gerry, I will keep posting the build as we move into trim and mechanicals, hopefully it will help others who may wish to do a restoration.
Well the car is now back together panel wise and is off to the spray booth next Thursday. The next lot of pictures you see after this lot will be of the car fully painted.

Hi Flying,
Thanks for comment, the only part that is not in orange is both rear wheel arches as I run out of Raptor but will do that later on when I can get it back on my hoist. My other cars are taking that space at the moment my Torana has a leaking master cylinder and the fluid has leaked onto my front chassis suspension bush breaking down the integrity of the nylothene so I have to replace those and am also doing a diff ratio change in my Cooper S. Once these are completed the Bellett will go on the hoist and pretty well stay there during the next phase.

Car was painted in the booth today, just got it home. Pick up the bonnet on Friday after it is painted. Will send some further pictures on Friday after the bonnet is fitted.Really happy with how the bodywork has come out, all those hours of work has paid off.

Well done …..now for the "satisfying" part - turn the welder and air compressor off, click the ratchet across to "do things up " rather than "undo" and get into it - exciting time.

I must admit I will not miss that board file. I agree this is the exciting time of a rebuild as you say Kerry putting thing on not taking them off.
As mentioned above will take a little break from the GT while I get my other two cars sorted so I can drive them. They will not take long at all to do and then I only have to focus on one car which will not be as time consuming as it has been because we have been on a mission to finish the body before winter. Next time it goes somewhere will be for the hood lining and front and rear screen fitment. That is planned for spring summer when we take it to a trimmer I use in the Clare Valley about an hour and a half drive from here.

Magnificent!!
She looks so nice Peter, absolutely perfect. Sounds like a great plan to get those other little jobs done to your cars so they don't annoy you. I too am looking forward to the build up, and really hoping we can have a Nationals. Things are starting to look positive there.

Thanks for comments Matt, I would like to go to the nationals as a spectator as the car will not be ready so lets hope that they go ahead. The offer still stands for anyone coming over or attending the nationals to come here for a visit if they want to view the car and progress.

Hi Glen,
We plan to keep the trim as close to original as possible just tossing around wether we put a little bit of orange in the seat piping or not still not sure about that. As the car has to go in for an inspection I will keep it as stock as possible initially so it does not raise any red flags to the inspector at the Government Department. Sometimes they can be really anal here. I will get away with trim but ride height and wheels will have to wait. I will probably present it with the wheels that I got with the car they should be OK and keep the suspension height standard. After it passes(fingers crossed) I plan to fit a set of superlites probably 14 or 15 x 6 and lower the car plus add extra leaf to the rear spring, I just have to understand the specs for that but I saw Rob did it for project Bella so I will contact him for some advice. With regard to the engine it is planned to do some head work including valve size increase, we have been in contact with Clive Stenlake (he bought out Wade Cams) and he has profiles for the camshaft so I will have him do a grind, he has given a figure of $168 for the grind and $8 each to resurface the lifters. I am taking the bore from 83mm to 84mm which will increase engine size to about 1618cc. I have found someone to remake my extractors or headers so that is taken care of. With regard to the carburettors it has the twin hitachi HJD38W and there are no kits available for these so I am looking at obtaining a set of Mikuni Solex sidedraught 40PHH carburettors for which we will have to manufacture an inlet manifold but I have a friend who used to work for ROH/Globe as one of their engineers and he has a plasma cutter so we can cut out the front and rear plate then just have to weld in the tubes between. Sounds simple when I write it but there is a little more to it. We have put all the new specs into an engine program and it has come back with BHP at the flywheel from 135 to 158 depending on how redical I want to get. The program has been verified by putting in the specs of several known engines we have and it has come back within 1hp of the dyno figures. The fluctuation in the HP figures is caused by changes in compression and how much CFM we get from the carburettors. We will probably run a 10 - 1 comp which will give us the lower figure. This is all going to take time but that is the plan for the car, hope you like it.

Have not been on here for a while and thought it was time for an update. All the rear suspension is cleaned and painted and some parts are going back in. Have to call a halt to that whilst we wait for some parts both locally and from Japan. Also waiting for new brake hoses and brake lines to be made for the area across the back of the car.

Moved onto disassembly of the front suspension, "Aaargh" you wonder sometimes why we do this. Bottom aluminium clamps for the steering rack are both cracked in half, bugger off to the aluminium welders next week for some repair work. Bit of heat treatment on the ball joints and tie rods, wack with the hammer and job done they are out, breath a sigh of relief.Got one hub disassembled , need to do some panel repair on a bent backing plate, easy task but a pleasant surprise looks like someone has fitted new wheel bearings I will continue with the other hub tomorrow and then the joyful job of pressure wash clean and paint.
