Something new from across the ocean that I had to share. I am not sure if they are catering more to Isuzu or niche market cars, or just recycling content from the various magazines into compilations in order to maximize usage of the same content. The individual stories are cited/footnoted to past issues of J's Tipo magazine.

The inside front cover has an advertisement for the company we all call "Eagle Sayama". They have apparently dropped the Eagle name and are using "Isuzu Sports" exclusively, which also explains the change in their website domain name.

Wow comprehensive write-up, JT191.

Until I saw the cover I wasn't sure if it was the Isuzu Memorial 1953-2003 you were referring to. I've got a copy but not being able to read Japanese I was thinking the lists may have been locked somewhere in there and it, too has an advert for Isuzu Sports on the inside cover (although it includes the Eagle Sayama domain name).

Turns out they are different books; I wonder if the content differs markedly enough to warrant a copy of each?

Hmm, even if it doesn't....

Surprises me the Unicab (possibly) is best rare car!

This is different from the Isuzu Memorial. Isuzu Memorial was published by Yaesu Media Mook. They may be a competitor company to Neko. And Isuzu Memorial does not look like it is a compilation of magazine articles. It looks like much of the content was put together at the 2008 Isuzu Owners Meeting.

Isuzu Sports looks like they picked out the best articles from J's Tipo magazine, and compiled them into one book. I don't see any shared content between Isuzu Sports and Isuzu Memorial. If you have every copy of J's Tipo since 1992, you could probably pass on Isuzu Sports. Otherwise, it's probably going to turn out to be another really good source for information that was never translated into English.

Now, if Nostalgic Hero would just do a compilation... They have a Bellett or 117 Coupe in every other issue.

doesnt surprise me dave that the unicab is the rarest.

hey gav, bet you're kicking even harder now mate!!

for those that dont know, the unicab was a little army jeep/dune buggy styled thing that had all flat panels attached to a Wasp chassis and used all Wasp running gear.
there are a few pics on the net if you google them.

I meant to go back and look at those numbers when I transcribed that, hoping it might be larger than the previously discussed stats, which might indicate a world wide total, instead of a domestic only sales total.

I also noticed that they have the Vehicross/Axiom engine on some stats at 3.2 liter, and I think all of ours were 3.5 liter. Either an error or some kind of alternate displacement that sneaks into the power output per displacement contests.

This one does have a lot of obvious references to General Motors involvement, and there is a lot more of the 80's and 90's cars than usual. (I was expecting cat-calls from Australia about the 4XE1 engine and the stories about the FF Gemini.) But the GM references are confined to what impact there was on the domestic market product, and nothing really about the history of the product overseas.

I find it conspicuous that they never deal with the cars outside Japan, and never qualify any numbers for total sales as "# inside Japan", # in Australia, # in Canada, # in Europe.... And # world wide".
Unless they see something absolutely outstanding outside their boarders, it is almost as if nothing exists outside Japan and they want to concentrate on what is happening in Japan only.

I thought about this a little more. I have been looking for a bigger number, hoping that the 171,910 number from Tochigi and the 1981 Neko Publishing Isuzu Piazza, 117 Coupe, and Bellett hard back book, and the similarly close 170,000 number discussed here, might be for domestic Japanese market sold cars only.

I'll suggest this as a possible unifying theory that assumes that all the numbers cited actually agree.
Is it possible that the total production is 17X,XXX cars, and the number of cars sold in Japan is 153,295. This would leave 18,615 cars originally exported and sold outside Japan in Australia, Canada, Europe, Brazil, etc.?????????????
