Here you can see the side defroster vents like everybody else in the world have in their Belletts And yes, the hole at the center of the dash is for a radio. That blue faceplate with Bellett-logo was in sedan models -67-69 ( at least in Finland ). Ari I guess this is a base model 69 sedan going by the rubber floor mats and no cigarette lighter? You've got the wood grain dash when I think our base models got the grey dash but no clock? The 69 deluxe I have has the wood grain dash and a clock to the right of the combination guage (the left on mine as it's RHD, but you know what I mean!). I think my steering wheel must have been replaced at some point because it's looking more and more like the 69 model should have that steering wheel you have whereas mine has the older model, chrome horn ring one... Also, note for interest that your ignition is on the steering column... Yet another difference! Mine is still on the dash like BellettPR10's! Argh, why isn't there any consistency!! Good dash pic though, I'll post mine for comparison. Cheers, Ross. Ross -69 steering wheel (with black horn button ) and -66-68 steering wheel ( with chrome ) has different size shafts. If you change the steering wheel, you must change the steering saft too. Latest gray dash in here was in -68. After that base models ( only model imported I think ) has wood dash without clock, rubber mats, igniton switch in steering column etc. like this mine has. This is going to be an endless talking... Seriously? This is interesting. I have seen the Gemini steering hub adapters used on the 1969 Bellett. And this is the same shaft spline pattern for PF, JT150/190, JT151/191, and even Piazza. That was the one thing in common for the 25 year span. But the 1968 has a different steering wheel spline pattern?

Ignition in column. I also did find one very early model ( without steering lock ) and it has same diameter than -68 shaft. That´s in here, don´t know how there . Ari

Hi guys, Here's the dash photo that I promised from a previous post. Attachment:

As you can see it has the older style wheel even though this is a 1969 model year deluxe. I recon that it has the '68 style spline which would make sense looking at AriNorjd's photo above. This has steering lock but the ignition is still on the dash like the older model. Does anyone know what steering adaptor will fit the older hub? I've got a sports wheel here but I can't fit it as I don't have a boss kit to suite! Quote: My opinion for this is that the emblems were all baby-blue. At least -69-> emblems are same colour regardless of colour of the car. I agree with you AriNorjd! I think that they are all that colour, before Isuzu settled on the red emblem. Cheers, Ross

I think from memory the early is the same as a Mazda hub.

I have a Holden Commodore VP Boss to fit my sports steering wheel to my Bellett (1966/7) I went to the local Autobarn (in Darwin) to find a Boss for it about 10 years ago - the guy behind the counter was not interested in letting me measure some of the boss adapters, because it was too hard for him (I did ask nicely) when that didn't work I asked "So you won't let me find one that fits my car so I can spend my money here" and he said "Nup". - I have never set foot back in Autobarn since. More fool him. I went home pulled the sports wheel off my commodore to get a rough size and would you believe it - it slid on straight and true and has been there ever since.

bellett65 is right. early column splines are the same as RX4 and series I & II RX7. the RX4 one is longer than the RX7, so the wheel is closer to you with an RX4 boss. the wasp is the same as the early column. i have an RX7 one in my wasp.
late column splines are the same as TE gemini. my race car has a late column in it. i put it in coz i already had the wheel for it that suited a TE.

That would explain why the Freegard Wasp here in Adelaide has a bugeye Mazda 323/Series 1 RX7 steering wheel on it... (with the 'Mazda' scratched off).

Off topic Brett but I realised I was wrong about no Wasps being sold here in Adelaide; I bought a couple of workshop manuals, some other bits and pieces and Ross got a Florian Zippo lighter (!!!) off this old fella here in Adelaide who worked for a company or the government (can't remember, but unlikely to be the govt) and they had a few Belletts and a few Wasps as work vehicles. He was supervisor of the maintenence section, I reckon. So yeah, we did get some Wasps here!

I guess they never changed it when they stopped making Belletts and started making Isuzu Geminis. The same spline pattern for the late model carries over through at least 1993: all the RB/JT150/JT190 Geminis, JT151/JT191 Geminis, Piazza JR, Trooper, Bighorn, Rodeo, Jackaroo, Amigo, Pup, Pickup, probably Vehicross and Axiom too. There are several different adapters for these different vehicles, and the difference appears to be the offset or depth between the mounting surface on the column and the mounting surface for the wheel (how far away or how close the wheel is to the driver). That and 12mmx1.5 lug nuts appear to be the only two things that carry over for that wide a range. Almost everything else makes it seem almost like the early and later cars were from two different manufacturers (as far as interchangeability is concerned).

BELLETTPR10, Nice Pics on the breakdown of the "single headlamp" version. Of all the searches I have done on different flavour Bellets, the single headlight variety appears to be a rarity. Oh yes, in answer to your question, Yes, this thread DID get sidetracked. This happens when people dont pay attention to detail.
