They were the replacement for the 1500SS. Unfortunately they were rust buckets.

funny you mention this car - I was at the wreckers years ago & found a Mazda 1500 SSS
On checking it out (I'm always looking for guages , sports s/wheels etc ) I found that it had a
remote brake power booster which was IDENITICAL to the Bellett GTR booster . -Craig

I saw one of these recently at a Mazda Dealership in the Blue Mountains, a "SSS" in almost MINT condition, they had $9K on it, too much money. It was right down to the original wheel trims in very good condition.
I could not see what mileage it had on it, it was a real nice example of the car.

$9K too dear you reckon? Pretty scarce, go well & super comfy. I for one love the look. Probably helps that Dennis had a 1500 deluxe new. Traded his Bellett on it in 1968. I reckon it out Deluxed a Florian at the time!
Cheers, Matt.

I suppose Matty the value is in the eye of the beholder, they were not fast as a "SSS" badging would suggest and very thirsty. :(
I agree they were a nice looking car, design done by an Italian according to Mazda.
I guess "someone"m has paid close to the 9k, it was there for quite a while but eventually dissappeared. I could not get close enough, however it looked like it had very close to the original white wall tyres on it also.

I was lucky yesterday to get a job in toowoomba at 3am :) why was this lucky? the toowoomba swap meet started at 5am this is a huge swap meet. I did not fit in as i did not have in my possession a trolly with twin overhead milk crates with tripple ocky straps. but i did happen to bond with a mazda 1000 coupe for sale :P. I was strong enough to leave it behind. Liz was a little concerned i was left alone with little brains and fully armed with a tow truck .
When i got home she said well. i told here to go down the shed and have a look nothing ha, she does not know how close the little red mazda could have been adopted.

The little red one that's been in Just Cars recently? Looked like a nice little car, just a little far from SA! :(
