Pop a pic in other cars section and I'll give my brother a gander at it. Is it series 1 or 2?
I prefer the twin round peepers of the series 2 myself.

Ok, Brett. Add this one !! Datto 180B.

I affectionately hated it when I was working my late Dads fruit orchard. Apart from loading it to the hilt with fruit boxes, and having what I now know as floating rear axles ( damn stole it from the early Isuzus !!), it did the dirt roads of Wirrabara sideways if you were game enough. Sound farmiliar ??

It actually belonged to my step mum. I was regularly sent to deliver small loads of fruit in it, or run errands.

God knows how I never hit a tree.

B.

actually B, i don't mind the ole 180B.
was just a slightly bigger version of a 1600/510, and as they were a cracker, there's no reason why a 180B can't be as well.
u just have to wade thru the jokes of "what does the B stand for...? blunders, coz datsun made 180 of them when they built it after the 1600/510..."
or when u bought a 200B, the line was "it's worse than a 180B, coz it has 20 more blunders..."

i actually put a mate onto a 180B a few years back to run as a club racer. why? easy....
1600/510's are worth gold if they aren't rooted ex-rally cars, which take even more money to fix than buying a minta....
they already have an 1800 engine....
everything that works on a 1600/510 works on a 180B, so it's just a case of copying the crowd....
and coz nobody wants them, they are dirt cheap.

very under-loved classic jap-tin in my book!
only slight prob is that they are a datsun... and god won't even drive one...

Hi all,

I have decided to bite the bullet and will be picking up the little 120'why' fastback in the morning.
The green machine needs to have a little pressure taken of the odomertre anyway. Besides it's off the road atm getting an engine and disc brake transplant.
The datto should be fun in the meantime

Agreed, my old man had a 180B when they were new, and they were a good thing. I remember driving it one one trip, Sydney to Canberra via Bathurst and Cowra, and with four up it cruised beautifully on those country roads. Enough power, good handling, comfortable, well equipped. Until some daft b$*&^% came through a red light and wrote it off. I never understood why he bought a 120Y to replace it.

The 180B SSS really went.

I don't know if there are many left but I'd love to get my hands on one.

Liz is a pom and in the past has bought pomy heaps home like escorts and things, in saying this she once took some cars to scrap metal and returned home with a 36 chev coupe utility so she is slowly learning. she has also given a home to two wasps. But pomy cars still draw her interest.

Yep I completely understand GT. My wife loves her Triumph Stag. It's an illness that is difficult to treat. But then she has a mug husband who maintains it :?
But it makes one appreciate the rugged simplicity of the Bullett. :)

Hey Greg,
Spotted it the day it went on ebay and have already checked it out, just out of curiosity of course.
Very tidy little car. Would make a great, easy project for someone into that kind of thing.
I'm too busy trying to find somewhere to live and need a new job as the company I work for is on the ropes.
Not sure that I'll get paid this week???
The mighty 120y fastback gets rego'd this Friday. Last non essential spend till who knows when.
Selling the Magna next week, or at least try to sell it.
That Marina is a tidy unit though. Needs a keith black in it!

Wasn't me

I'd just like the site administrators to note that the last mention of the car-starting-with-M word was not posted by me.
I have undergone extensive counselling in relation to this and I can say that in the fullness of time, taking into account to unforseen eventualities and notwithstanding an environment of regression, it has worked to date
